Thank you @smith.senate.gov and @klobuchar.senate.gov for standing strong for the Boundary Waters today.
The fight isn’t over. We can and will protect the Boundary Waters.

Every GOP House member voted no last night on advancing assault weapons and high capacity magazine bans.
The public overhwelmingly supports action on both.
This is not the end of the fight. But GOP members have now shown they are choosing the gun lobby over kid safety.
Seven weeks before the end of session, 90% of House Republicans just voted to adjourn for good.
They voted for no more action on gun violence prevention, fraud, or affordability.
Total abdication of their responsibilities as elected officials.
Dems have demanded reasonable protections from ICE overreach: warrants, no ICE agents in schools, no secret police.
Trump this week stopped a bipartisan proposal to fund TSA and DHS because ... he wants to leverage federal workers for his voter disenfranchisement obsession.
Honored to be endorsed for reelection in 61B! I’m so proud to be a part of this incredible community.
I support extending pre-eviction notice, and Democrats at the Capitol have a proposal to do that statewide.
I tend not to sign letters to other elected Democrats, but in retrospect should have signed this one so there was no confusion about my position.
For those keeping score at home:
Minnesota: 1
Kristi Noem: 0
It’s becoming harder for average MN families to make ends meet.
The wealthy are doing great while the rest of us struggle.
House DFLers rolled out a plan today to help reduce costs for 2/3 of a typical family budget: health care, housing, child care, energy, and groceries.
Bills the MN GOP refused to let out of committee today alone:
- Ban assault weapons (69% public support)
- Ban high capacity magazines (64% public support)
- My civil right of action for Constitutional violations (88% public support)
The GOP is on the wrong side and Minnesotans will remember.
Today I’m proposing a ban on assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, binary triggers, firearms without serial numbers, and more.
This week Demuth and the House GOP blocked bills to:
- Keep ICE out of schools
- Require BCA to investigate federal agent shootings
- Provide emergency rental assistance
They don’t even want to acknowledge the harm Metro Surge has caused Minnesotans.
It was a hard first day of session without Speaker Hortman. We know what she would want us to do: pick ourselves up, and focus on working together to improve lives.
Trump's EPA just said climate change is a hoax.
They can't avoid the science or the law, but in the meantime this will do real harm to Americans' health and add over $6K in costs to new vehicles.
Let's be clear: Operation Metro Surge was a failure.
It endangered Minnesotans, violated our Constitutional rights, and caused enormous economic harm.
Its ending because Minnesotans stood up, and the public rejected it.
New MN Poll:
- 64% disapprove of how ICE handling its job
- 66% say ICE has gone too far
- 88% say ICE agents should not be granted immunity
Minnesotans agree: end Metro Surge. Hold ICE accountable.
Huge turnout at precinct caucuses last night! Lots of first time caucus goers too. DFLers are fired up and ready to win!
DFL House Caucus raised $2.6M in 2025, breaking all records for off-year fundraising.
That's $885K more than the House GOP raised.
We're ready to win back the majority.
These attorneys are unwilling to:
- selectively prosecute protestors
- defend unconstitutional ICE arrests
- ignore the DOJ's refusal to investigate the agent who killed Renee Good
Integrity matters.

Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.
“ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence”
- Chief U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz
Don’t drop out all at once Republicans…
Within hours of Trump attacking @Ilhan with words, she’s attacked at her town hall. Words matter and Trump’s recklessness puts people in danger.
The strength to be attacked and continue the town hall is incredible. Ilhan is a force. 💪
I’m no Chris Madel fan, but glad to see a top 3 GOP straw poll finisher telling the truth while other GOP leaders bury their head in the sand.
Chris is right. All Minnesotans should reject racial profiling, raiding homes without a warrant, and prosecuting political opponents.
NYT video analysis:
- Officers weren’t aware Alex Pretti had a gun until they pinned him on the ground
- An agent had already removed his gun when two other agents opened fire
- They shot him 10 times in the back as he lay on the ground
Let the MN BCA investigate now.
There is no justification for shooting an observer with seven agents holding him on the ground.
What will it take for GOP leaders to say enough?
You can't blame observers. You can't blame Democrats for telling the truth.
The blame lies with reckless ICE officers. ICE must go.
A running tally of who Trump’s DOJ is investigating:
- Governor Walz
- AG Ellison
- Mayor Frey
- Mayor Her
- Cty Atty Moriarty
- School board member
- Civil rights advocate
- Spouse of ICE shooting victim
And who it’s not:
- Agent who shot and killed Renee Good
ICE actions continue to be dangerous and unconstitutional, violating free speech and civil rights.
Read my op ed with @SenatorChampion and @OmarFatehMN on our plan to let Minnesotans sue for civil damages when their rights are violated.

Local police say they know ICE is racially profiling because… they’ve profiled off-duty officers of color.
All Minnesotans should be able to agree that civil rights matter. That the color of your skin is an unacceptable reason for arrest or harassment by ICE.
So… the district court ruling “didn’t change anything” but you’re still appealing?
Can’t have it both ways. Either you’re following the law and constitution or you’re not.

On the same day Trump pardons a fraudster, he once again is using the DOJ as his own political tool.
This is not only absurd, it fundamentally undermines democracy.
