You just unlocked this memory for me lol
I recommend checking out this short and concise presentation in which Dean Radin does a great job explaining, from a scientific evidence-based perspective, why we can be relatively confident that consciousness is not simply a localized phenomenon isolated in the brain: youtu.be/-ra20Jy2_Qg
I’m out of the loop. What’s the current drama?
It’s interesting to me how much the experience of being an Esperantist mirrors the experience of being a vegan 🥲
It’s still kinda funny to me how every “Why I Hate Esperanto” video/article always unironically says some version of: “Esperanto is too Eurocentric. And besides, who needs Esperanto when we already have English.”
Great, thank you!
I see, thanks! I’m honestly still not sure where I land, but your perspective has been very helpful. One of these days I need to get your thoughts on the usage of the singular gepatro.
If I may ask, do you also have the same concern with similar slang words in the English language, such as cool, rad, dope, sweet, sick, gnarly, groovy, etc.? Or is the issue because of the international nature of Esperanto?
That sounds like an interesting documentary. If you happen to recall it later, please let me know. Also, I appreciate your detailed responses 🙏
I’ll be totally honest, this is the first time I’ve ever heard ĉiesulino, but I guess that might be because I’ve hardly ever engaged in meta discussions about Esperanto 😅. I encounter mojosa all the time though. It was even one of the first words I learned on Duolingo lol
I don’t mean to butt in on the conversation, but wouldn’t you agree that the toothpaste is out of the tube at this point with mojoso? By that I mean, regardless of whether anybody wants the word in Esperanto, it is now used widely enough that anybody learning Esperanto should learn about that word.
Thank you, this is very important point. One way of thinking about this is that, according to Buddhism, suffering is simply the inevitable result of *misperceiving reality*. So, in some ways, the nihilistic view of Buddhism is actually the opposite of the truth.
Bonege! Dankon, kara 🙏
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this.

One of the biggest embarrassments of my life is that I used to be a fan of Russell Brand.
Happens to me so often that I’m just used to it. Latest one was when I was taking an academic survey about how I would help a best friend who broke up with their partner, and then a couple days later my best friend called and told me that he and his girlfriend broke up 😅

Bela libro! Kiu verkis ĝin?
(Just for the record, I’ve never seen the show.)

I have to be honest, occult books starting to use AI slop cover art makes me sad 😔
I remember back when I first went vegan, I was expecting it to be some great austerity, but then it turned out to be the biggest non-issue ever.
Bill Hicks had a great line that I find myself thinking often these days: “How far up your ass does this guy’s dick have to be before you realize he’s fucking you, man?”
I’m thinking this is a sub skeet directed towards Esperanto USA… lol
While I think it’s obviously true that absolute neutrality cannot exist with language, to use that as a criticism of Esperanto seems to me like a textbook example of a Perfect Solution Fallacy. That being said, I have a hard time believing that these debates are anything more than academic anyway.
