2025 turned out to be a year of growth. New country, new work, new school, new people, new places to explore. Not without challenges or health milestones, but lighter than the years before it. More momentum. A good place to be, heading into 2026.

First field trip in Tanzania ๐น๐ฟ I saw Shule Bora (โquality schoolโ) at work - inclusive classrooms, clean cookstoves, kitchen gardens.
Parents said theyโre proud to contribute to school feeding, knowing their kids will get quality food on time.
Real change happens when communities lead.
First trip out of Dar โ on the electric train to Morogoro ๐โก Such a smooth journey through the hills, and plenty of wildlife to spot on arrival ๐ฆ๐ฟ Already excited for more Tanzania adventures!

Settling into Dar means lots of new discoveries. For me, itโs colleagues and cooperation. For her, itโs waves and seashells. Both remind me why protecting our environment matters. ๐ด

A new adventure, a new language, and a whole new set of birds to discover.
From Murakoze cyane to Asante sana, not goodbye, but tuzongera duhureโฆ or rather, tutakutana tena. ๐
There were hard moments too, health challenges, time apart, the bittersweet side of expat life. But Rwanda brought healing, growth and grace.
Beyond the day job, Rwanda gave our family so much: misty volcanoes, birdsong mornings, deep friendships, and community. Our daughter learnt to swim here. My husband fell for the wildlife, and photographed half the birds in the country! ๐ฆโจ
From climate finance to social protection, governance to innovation, itโs been a privilege to walk alongside Rwandaโs development journey. A reminder that partnership can thrive, even in tough global times.
After four unforgettable years, itโs time to say goodbye to Rwanda. A country of resilience, beauty, and ambition. Itโs shaped me deeply, both professionally and personally.
Murakoze cyane, Rwanda. ๐
Soaking up every moment on our last day in Madagascar.
Wildlife, wonder, and just the reset I needed before final goodbyes and handovers in Kigali.

โจ Chameleons, lemurs, stars. My daughter whispers โwowโ in my ear. My husband saves me from slipping over a log! Madagascar feels otherworldly โ and I wouldnโt want to see it with anyone but them.

Two reasons to be proud of this guy today.
๐ Launching his second book โFollowing the #BirdsOfRwandaโ โ a stunning celebration of birdlife and behaviour.
๐๏ธ Receiving a thank you award from Rwanda Cancer Relief for his #WalkWithWill cancer awareness & fundraising.

Two years since chemo.
Still on the meds,
still looking for silver linings,
still thinking of all those in the thick of it.

The first of a few leaving parties today โ this one for Charlie, to help her say goodbye to good friends and great times. It was such a whirlwind of cake, chaos and cuddles we only managed one photo (of the cake, obviously).
Less than two months to goโฆ the countdown is real!

Social protection works. In Northern Province today, I met mums feeding babies better, parents funding education, families building livelihoods. With UK support since 2008, Rwandaโs investing in its futureโone generation at a time.
Volunteering has always been a powerful way for me to connect with what mattersโconservation, communities, and creating impact.
A privilege to open VSOโs workshop today in Rwanda. Participants from across Africa and Asia will share learning on active citizenship ๐๐ค

A few days to unwind โwalking among giraffes, soaking in the beauty of nature, and feeling the world slow down. Nothing quite like a safari on foot to remind you of the magic of the wild.

Trees endure, witnessing generations come and go. Wonderful launch of Rwandaโs Legacy Tree Project tonight โ because protecting trees is protecting our future. ๐ฑ๐
Now to find a good spot for this Cordia Africana sapling and leave our own small mark. #LegacyTreeProject
Just back in Rwanda after a week in Londonโjuggling medical check-ups and treatments with a whirlwind of family time, museums, and LEGO/Harry Potter shops! Grateful, as always, to have Will by my side. Always thankful for the NHS.

This #WorldCancerDay, Iโm filled with gratitude - for early detection, the NHS, incredible health workers, 6-monthly follow-ups, a family who braves freezing London to sit with me in hospital, a workplace that supports meโฆ

Last night, we celebrated our work on climate and the environment, providing a space to foster collaboration๐ฌ๐ง๐
I shared how my passion grew from spending time in nature as a childโlearning its power to connect and inspire. Living in ๐ท๐ผ has elevated that passion to new heights!
Two years since my mastectomy. Physical healing came quickly, chemo was tough, but adjusting to the lasting effects of hormone therapy has taken the longest.
Now reflecting on the link between prior stress and my #cancer diagnosis, and the need to ensure balance and self-care โค๏ธ
Happy New Year
