Looks incredible.

This is your reminder to look out for the Weinstein Effect.
Which is when the extreme horrors committed by men become the new bar for immorality. Anything “less than a Weinstein” is now tolerated, even if everyone agrees a man was violent or exploitative.
Don’t let abuses of power become the norm.

Me & my wife travelled to Tasmania 15 years ago and again this week. Took similar photos…she’s aged gracefully and I have aged like a mouldy sack of potatoes.

This is a sort of remake of Stephen Kings only directorial debut Maximum Overdrive & based on the story Trucks. This makes Maximum Overdrive look like Citizen Kane & comes across more as Minimum Overdrive!

No ads in Australia- just movie news & bad jokes.
Stop worrying about what YA books to let your kids read and let them sort it out with V C Andrews and cocaine era Stephen King as God intended
I’m going to read anything you write but ‘middle finger to AI-humping techbros’ has me even more excited.

This features 2 shorts story by Clive Barker & one by King. The King story is a very faithful adaptation but unfortunately doesn’t work. It’s a fun story to read & imagine but as a film it just comes across as silly.
No question but how about a nickname for James. Was thinking of combining 2 of his cinematic loves and going with Victor Von DUUUNE!

A black and white Archive photograph of Orkney photographer William Hourston holding his collie dog. It is looking towards the camera and looks very lovely.
Cheer up your timeline, celebrate the weekend and offset any #FridayThe13th misfortune by
1) telling William Hourston's dog what a good boy he is
2) then asking him if he's a good boy
3) then booping his nose
4) then reminding him he's a good boy.

I barely have any recollection that this existed & there’s a reason for that. The story, script, effects & music are very weak. It’s slow in the 1st few episodes & then goes full out & crazy in the end when they knew it wouldn’t be renewed. Overall a disappointment.
Grace Kelly by Erwin Blumenfield (1955)
Man bursts into tears. Says, 'But doctor…I am Chris Nolan'.
Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Doctor says, 'Treatment is simple. Great director Chris Nolan has made a new film. Go and see it and enjoy its non-linear structure.'

it’s hard to accurately review this as it’s a novel he was releasing online and he never actually completed it. I found what’s available not the most engaging but it’s possible that it would have had an amazing ending.
That was such a great episode. @mikeflanaganfilm.com is so genuine & so good at discussing his art. Not that I wasn’t excited before but hearing him talk about The Dark Tower had me so pumped for its eventual release. The wait is excruciating but it will be worth it knowing it’s being done right.
A fun thread on the best of the Disney eras. My picks are:
Golden - Bambi
Wartime - The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr Toad
Silver - Lady & the Tramp
Bronze - Winnie the Pooh
Renaissance - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Post Renaissance - Lilo & Stitch
Revival - Moana
Current - Encanto
Original production drawing from Bambi
Bambi is my favorite animation (i even bought myself an original production drawing from it) so an easy choice but all of these are stunning choices. What they could achieve without computers is truly astonishing.
Just finished rewatching it after reading the new book on it by JB Kaufman. Personally I think there is something for everyone in it. My favorites being The Rite of Spring especially the opening through space & the dinosaurs. Next is the darkness of Night on Bald Mountain.
Good thread on ranking the Disney eras.
I can’t really argue with any of this although my top three would be a little shuffled.
1st - Renaissance
2nd - Golden
3rd - Silver
Part of me wants to put golden first as it has my favorite - Bambi but you can’t argue with hiw great most of the renaissance is.

I used to climb and was ridiculously uncomfortable unroped just a few metres off the ground. This is crazy, the amount of skill & control he has over his body & emotions.
