Child: A police dog!
Mother: That is not a police dog.

I'm sorry about your mother. Best wishes to you in giving her love and care.
The reviews stayed up, but several critics took down links on Twitter in particular. And I couldn't blame them.
I want to write for my favorite B movie series, Columbia's The Whistler! I even have a couple of ripped-from-the-headlines cases as ideas. "I am the Whistler...and I know many things, for I walk by night.' ... "

I won't forget either seeing how many critics took down links to their reviews due to the horrific, abusive onslaught from fans. So thanks for this, Tim. I admire you for putting it out there.
I will never forget the experience of seeing LEAVING NEVERLAND at its Sundance premiere. For @avclub.com I wrote about a devastating, definitive documentary about surviving sexual abuse that cannot be erased.
This essay, by @timgrierson.bsky.social, on Leaving Neverland and how so many people have once again chosen to ignore the reality of Michael Jackson’s legacy is as excellent as others have said: www.avclub.com/leaving-neve...
😂 having the same deal with a different thread
Happy Birthday to the great Harold Lloyd, born 133 years ago today
A lot of my underappreciated songs (and singers, and groups) were just ones that were overplayed at the time. Let a decade or two pass without hearing it, and all of a sudden, like you said, I get it!
Hopper is a master of subtle allusion. We see a man and woman seated at separate tables in a sunny cafeteria. They are the only customers. What interests the artist is the suspenseful moment before a first tentative contact is made, the mental and emotional forcefield that can arise between two strangers.
Sunlight in a Cafeteria by Edward Hopper, 1958
💯 agree
This song is GREAT! "And all the stars / that never were / are parkin' cars and pumpin' gas ..."
It is very important indeed

This is what Israel has done to Bint Jbeil, my hometown in southern Lebanon
They were so popular for a while. I can't even stand the smell of them!
As long as we're talking a big screen and a magnificent print, NORTH BY NORTHWEST.
If I'm allowed seconds, I'll take WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION.
As far as I know, Joan really did like to cook, and it makes sense in terms of her personality. She would want the last word on what was fueling her body. This is interesting! Could make to go with the meatloaf. www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/ar...
💔 I don't see the point of the hard-boiled eggs (except Joan was probably all about protein). Otherwise, the A-1, the Worcestershire sauce, the onions and green peppers and the Lawry's (paprika, onion and garlic powder I guess)—it's a meatloaf recipe you might still find on the Web.
That sounds like fun. I don't trust people who can't name a few "soft spot" movies!
It isn’t just the fabulous lines in this film, the deliveries are perfection. Don’t talk to me if this film doesn’t levitate you

Wow!
Joel Cairo will serve you this dish after he searches Mr. Spade's office and then gets slapped.
@riffle.bsky.social As we were discussing ...
thank you so much!
An excellent essay on one of my desert island films.
This is a MUCH more interesting recipe, although I never use hard-boiled eggs in mine.
