First project post PhD will be to start the much anticipated (and likely very well funded) Habsburg eagle jewellery digital archive
I’m on a hunt for 16thC Habsburg women wearing eagle jewellery. Everything now looks like an eagle. Is that an eagle at the very top of Maria of Austria’s head? Or just some sort of flourish that looks a little like an eagle? Am I an eagle?
Submissions are open for our OOC International Conference!! 💚

first of all, Shakespeare doesn’t need to be queer for his plays to be queer—or for us to read & interpret his plays queerly.
second of all, yes. yes he was.
Thoroughly enjoying this

The cover of a book. Title reads TEXTILE SHAKESPEARE. The illustration shows black embroidery of flowers, fruit, animals and insects on a stained cream ground.
Today is the OFFICIAL publication day for TEXTILE SHAKESPEARE! Please indulge me: I want to say a little (perhaps rather a lot) about it and share my acknowledgements - and a discount code! Appropriately,🧵1/10
Today on the blog: a magnificent find by @franceswolfreston.bsky.social of a book that the poet Katherine Philips gave to Mary Jeffreys; a discussion with important scholarly implications for the study of Philips earlymodernfemalebookownership.wordpress.com/2025/10/27/h... #EarlyModern #HerBook
