In this game of nuclear chicken, Trump brinked first.

It’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment.
And a reminder that - thanks to a broken SCOTUS - while Trump can’t be prosecuted for any illegal acts he carried out under the blanket cover of being an official act, none of the people who work for him have that protection
I truly hope there is an adult in the room when Trump and Hegseth decide on the nuclear option.
In light of the one and a half trillion dollar military budget request from the White House, I think we can fairly say that Trump is spending money like a drunken pedophile.
My research into embodied cognition is far better served by studying the work of tardigradologists than listening to the noisy rantings of AI billionaires.

I respect that the leaked source code for the Claude client is protected by copyright.
But wouldn’t it be ok for me to train my LLM on it?
You know, fair use and all that.

MAGA, defined.

The whole ”AGI is just around the corner” is a meaningless and silly distraction.
That not withstanding, the inevitable Great Implosion will happen to companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI because open source models that can be run locally - with minimal capex and zero risk of surveillance -are quickly and irreversibly becoming good enough.
Here is my prediction:
The Magnificent Seven - Alphabey, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla - will continue to push AI down our throats despite diminishing returns to its users, simply because they’ve invested so much they’ve gone past a point of no return.
From time to time, I will use an LLM for answer generation, but every time I will verify its results.
I also presume that search will always be biased and inadequate, and I act accordingly.
Do not surrender your humanity to tools that are architecturally and demonstrably unreliable narrators.
Answer generation and search are related albeit significantly different use case cases, demanding fundamentally different architectures.
So sorry for your loss
In light of the Orange Cockwomble's American First Award, let us remember an even more prestigious award, the Francis Scott Key key.

— A Tale of AI
Gonna party like it’s October 23rd, 1929.
And what do we call a thing that is expressive and precise and deterministic and repeatable so as to produce reliable executable artifacts?
We call it a programming language.

Thank goodness for my library of real, physical books, each a conversation with another real thinking, feeling human.
As I continue research for my Computing documentary, I am dismayed by the volume of AI slop through which I must wade, vomitus chunks of misinformation amplified by mindless multitudes of agentic slop-makers, making it increasingly difficult to find truth in the noise.
Thank you for mansplaining this for me.
Both yielded interesting results; both have vastly misunderstood the exquisite and messy nature of human intelligence, consciousness, and sentience.
In the first ages of AI, writing a program to play checkers or chess or Jeopardy or Go was seen as an analog to human intelligence.
In this current age, language is the proxy for human intelligence.
The science is quite clear: man-made climate change introduces more heat to the oceans, yielding more powerful storms.
Today, we experienced three episodes of almost 4" of rain per hour.
And it’s one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don’t ask Trump, he’ll change the plan,
Next stop might be Iran.
And it’s five, six, seven,
Shut down those Epstein files
But there ain’t no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we’re all gonna die.
Well, come on all of you MAGA men,
Donald says “let’s do it again.”
Tweeting late in a midnight jam,
Picking fights over Iran.
So turn off your brain, wave that flag,
We’ll sort it out in a body bag.
