Summer work exp with my daughter in Lisbon ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น

Nothing beats showing her the real world of work, teaching her more about the world of #AI and how I run the company remotely.

3000 contact location updates later and she's earned her first proper paycheck.

Proud dad moment.

Congrats to all paper acceptances and best paper winners!

My AI transcriber strips out "please" but keeps everything else ๐Ÿค–

"Can you send me your CV please?" becomes "Can you send me your CV?"

As a Brit, questions now sound like demands.

Manually adding "please" back kinda defeats the point of using AI transcription, right?

Why choose specialist AI recruiters?

Market insight - they speak the technical language
Reputation focus - success depends on service
Targeted network - established relationships
Efficiency - right fit in weeks, not months

Generic=wide nets. Specialists=precision.

Beyond comp, AI talent evaluates:

Technical challenges
Growth trajectory
Team quality
Work flexibility
Mission alignment

Top offers address these explicitly.
What factors beyond comp swayed your decision?

How companies lose top AI talent:

Lowball initial offers
Drawn-out processes
Unclear technical vision
No leadership involvement
Poor communication

When talent has 5+ options, your process previews your culture.

Competition is rife. Researcher I worked with had 7 offers.
SEVEN! ๐Ÿคฏ
For startups to win:
1๏ธโƒฃ Best offer first
2๏ธโƒฃ Fast, enjoyable process
3๏ธโƒฃ Be transparent
4๏ธโƒฃ Show they're #1 (dinners, fly them in)
Highest comp isn't always the decider.

๐Ÿ™„ When hiring managers say "2-4 years experience"
Translation: Autonomous but not senior-level pay.
Reality: Junior to mid-level salary jump in AI is VAST. Every hiring company wants mid-level, driving up demand & comp.
Want solid mid-level? Pay for it.

Technical recruitment needs the human touch. Tools help us be more efficient, not less human.
Only 2 types of recruiters will struggle:

Those not leveraging AI
Pure CV sifters in high-volume markets

"Recruiters will all be replaced by AI" ๐Ÿค”
AI in recruiting - perception vs reality...
Everyone: "You must use AI to screen/reject candidates!"
What we actually use:

LLMs for workflow
AI notetakers
Smart outreach
Data agents

Why test theoretical puzzles when you could assess real-world problem-solving?

How do you feel about Leetcode for roles requiring specific experience unrelated to algorithm puzzles?

The reality:
- Rarely relates to actual work
- Better alternatives exist (practical tasks/research presentations)

For Senior+ roles, we advise clients against Leetcode-style interviews.

Leetcode interviews for senior roles: Essential or Outdated? ๐Ÿค”

Here's what we've seen over the years:
- Juniors excel (recent study/prep)
- Senior engineers push back hard
- Staff/Principal often refuse or aren't asked

Remember: Questions don't show weakness - they show professionalism.

The best engineers ask questions before writing code.

What questions have saved your technical interview?

Key questions to ask:

What assumptions should I make?
- Performance requirements?
- How to handle unexpected scenarios?
- Preferred format for delivery?

This shows:
- Communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Problem-solving approach

A common mistake in technical interviews?

Not asking enough questions! ๐ŸŽฏ

Whether it's a take-home task or real-time coding challenge, too many candidates dive straight in without clarification.
