Starting 1 March 2026, Google will penalize apps excessively draining the battery. Apps exceeding cumulative wake lock duration of more than 2hrs within a 24hr period (phones) or incurring an hourly battery drain of 4.44% or higher (watch) will be labelled and reduces visibility.
