i said this about substack all the way back in 2021 and it's as true now as it was then and has always been and will always fucking be
Let's sing a round of The Land of the Lost theme song in his honor.
Of course it was all staged but let's not ignore the reporters who didn't bother to ask things like if cuts to Medicaid are exactly the thing driving medical expenses higher in the first place.
This kind of thing at Substack (including their Nazi problem and trans hate problem) are why my newsletter is at Ghost.org and always has been. Andrew Tate is a spectacularly vile human being accused of numerous violent crimes against women and hugely corrosive for young male minds.
I guess the only thing to do is to point you to this essay I wrote about the man in the industry who assaulted me and what happened after I reported him.
This is the only sentence that really matters: “Could you imagine being autopsied while you’re still alive?”

I'm trying to imagine the mind of someone who sees a person who should be happily retired needing to work for DoorDash and thinks anything other than that is a total failure of our society.

The Sesame Workers Union is looking for a way to get to a fair & equitable Sesame Street. More than a year after employees at @SesameWorkersunion voted to unionize they’re still fighting for a contract that supports living in an increasingly unaffordable city. We stand in solidarity with their them.
So sorry for your loss

One side of the tablet has the neat teacher’s handwriting, while the other seems to show the less perfect, but still lovely, student’s copy. It was made in a Babylonian school around 1900-1600 BCE
It’s profoundly ignorant to suggest that the Pope should be fighting crime on behalf of the Catholic Church. Anyone who was remotely familiar with Roman Catholicism would know that that’s what Daredevil is for
I have absolutely no dog in this fight. I just find it fascinating that there's a divide between "This was a brilliant, intimate showing made for his long time fans" and "...no, seriously, he searched for his old YouTube vids while *on stage*?"
Congrats!
I never expected to be obsessed with CATS, but the current reimagining on Broadway through a Ballroom lens is miraculous.
This interview with LEGENDS Junior LaBeija, Ken Ard, and Andre DeShields from the show is a GIFT and gives insights that wouldn’t exist without bringing Ballroom to the show.
I can't believe we didn't get a deal with Iran after sending the United States's least charismatic person to do the negotiating.
The key to this passage is that Soderbergh ultimately admits, however unconsciously, that he just didn’t want to pay talented artists to create the work he needed.
PLATNER IS LITERALLY STILL OPENLY USING THE "R" WORD IN CASUAL CONVERSATION. TODAY.
It made so many interactions I've had with people make so much more sense in retrospect. Even though it made me feel sad that that's how they view the world.
A black German Shepherd is lying down on the couch next to a plastic tray with cheese squares on one side and Triscuits on the other. She would very much like to help with the eating of this cheese out of the goodness of her heart.
Nola would like it to be known that she will help me eat this cheese if I need help eating cheese. It's no trouble at all, really.
I love how the little white faced one has opinions on things.
Learning that some people genuinely cannot understand that kindness can just be about being kind was such an eye opener for me.
