Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.

Second day in a row without the orange man-baby. Not sure if to be pleased, or fearful of what he’ll do next to get the attention he craves.

All wars are dystopian! The positive way to view it is that it may become a powerful non-nuclear deterrent, in that it could become effectively impossibly to take territory if both sides have effective drones.

What should have happened: the REIT paid no tax but the Tice companies holding shares in the REIT paid £98k tax on the dividends they received.

What actually happened: none of the companies paid any tax.

Our new report: Richard Tice signed accounts wrongly claiming £98,000 of tax exemptions

Low numbers of Peacock (dagpauwoog, A io) on Dutch Butterfly Monitoring transects this year, after last years poor summer generation and missing 2nd gen because of poor quality nettles. This spring is also dry and much too warm so far, so things don't look good for nettles and peacocks this year.

When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 in stamp duty, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should resign if she had “any moral decency”.

Now we learn he set up four shell companies that let him avoid paying £100,000 he owed in tax and to then transfer the cash to Reform

There is something refreshing to wake and not find some apocalyptic news story dominating everything. Rare, but nice. Makes me wonder if the orange man-baby has had a stroke.

Hey @nytimes.com, I already reported this earlier this week.

And the G650s you mention? I reported on those in FEBRUARY.

You credit NBC News and WSJ for first reporting parts of your story. Please credit me, too.

White House must reveal and resolve Jared Kushner's financial conflicts of interest - CREW | Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Jared Kushner must file his legally required public financial disclosure report within 30 days of his appointment as Special Envoy for Peace.

Kushner (Affinity Partners) serves as a Shell Company for Trump. It's that simple.

The only "Deals" he's negotiating are for the Trump Crime family with partner in crime Steve Witkoff.

A true Criminal Enterprise.

Started with 666 Fifth Avenue bailout, and $2B Saudi investment for future favors.

Just 20 minutes before Trump's announcement that the Strait of Hormuz was open, massive trades hit the market.

Investors sold a combined 7,990 lots of Brent crude futures, a $760 million bet that oil would go down.

These orders were much larger than anything else at the time.

The traders made huge gains.

Unusual.

The odds that one or more of my sources have been making an insane amount of money on insider trading... probably quite high

I am so proud of Ciara - our Co-Chair of @younggreens.bsky.social and the next Cllr for Herne Hill and Loughborough Jnc.

Today, she is rightly named The Times 'Young Power List'. She epitomises HOPE.

WOW.

Our @younggreens.bsky.social now have 50,000 members - they are the biggest political youth movement in the UK.

And we're growing. Every single day I am meeting more young greens out on the streets campaigning.

This is how we make change happen.

This is insane. Barely 6 years on from the irruption of a virus that claimed over 1M US lives, the plug is getting pulled on the kind of science that could prepare them better next time. Wrong lessons (deliberately) being learned.

Even the Meloni government in Italy is to suspend its military agreement with Israel....

... while Britain's remains in place.

And when will UK national media even report the UK has a secret military agreement with Israel?

This is how our government greets those accused of war crimes.

This is not diplomacy. It's debasement.

A totally normal party: an #AfD MP who is also an adjunct prof at a Moscow conservatory is charged with "publicly displaying unconstitutional symbols", i.e. sieg-heiling in the Bundestag's lobby

8. Questions for the government
This analysis suggests a number of straightforward questions which the government should address:
Will the government publish a clear breakdown of the profile over time of the most likely savings and costs of the proposed reforms, before the proposals are finalised?
How much of the £10bn lifetime estimate would actually be affected by delaying ILR, as opposed to costs arising later in life?
What is the estimated fiscal impact of the policy over the next five years, the period relevant to the fiscal rules?
Does the government expect these reforms to reduce settlement by encouraging migrants to leave? If so, what is the short-term fiscal impact of that?
What are the expected savings from reduced access to benefits, in cash terms, and how do they compare to the tax contributions of this cohort?
What assumptions have been made about behavioural responses, including exit and reduced inflows?
What assessment has been made of the policy’s impact on higher-paid migration, which has a strongly positive fiscal contribution?
These are not technical details. They go directly to whether the policy achieves its stated objective of improving the public finances

My detailed analysis is here. It includes some questions which journalists and MPs should be asking the Home Office.
