This is what I meant with my original reply, again I can't vote in Maine and I don't have an opinion on this guy. But people on this site are speaking about the election in a very uninformed way and don't even believe a polling summary is real.

I didn't say any such thing. Check the numbers yourself. Polling isn't perfect nor is it unbiased but what you can look at here tells a clear story.

I think this is a lot of opinionated speculation about attack strategies, I don't think this has any relevancy to what the actual electorate is reacting to today. You may very well end up being correct by the end but it doesn't make it not speculation.

I'm not saying they didn't have obstacles. I'm saying that, according to the numbers, the voters of Maine don't seem to care about these obstacles. You would not expect the person you're describing to be polling at +23

I'm not arguing for or against this candidate, and I don't live in Maine (I don't think any of us discussing this do). I just think it's odd the way people on this website talk about the current situation. It's not some wild crazy thing to imagine Platner winning in November

This just doesn't seem particularly evidence based to me. Polling wise he is in a comfortable lead, the "cosmic luck" would need to be on the Mills side of the equation. And then the general electorate would need to care more about slurs than the Democrat primary voting base.

One thing I'm confused about wrt the Bluesky zeitgeist is why it's seen as an incredible outside chance he would win requiring "cosmic luck". He's polling at +23 for the primary and +7/9 for the general. He's the frontrunner.
