the profundity of this comment on a random thread about the obsequiousness of AI chatbots stopped me dead in my tracks

Burning bridges on a business network is a choice. :D
From time to time I post AI critical articles on Linkedin just to see who pops up with WELL ACTUALLY in the comments. It's depressing.
Screenshot of Elmo next to his pet's fishbowl in Elmo's World. The subtitles say "We. Dorothy's been thinking abou and down to what’s her daughter."
four birds in a cartoon from Sesame Street, with the caption reading "Oh, shit"
Another Sesame Street cartoon saying "Oh shit"
Screenshot of Big Bird in Hooper’s Store with live human Alan and a flying red bird. The subtitles read: "Time for the birth of terror. Me"
Do not watch Sesame Street on Tubi with the subtitles on 😭. I swear, I didn't edit or add anything. Is it hilarious? Yes, but also, they need to fix this immediately. Absolutely incomprehensible and bad
A "wartime" poster that says: "Using Generative AI? You're Prompting with Hitler! GenAI is a Fascist Project! Try using your brain instead! Don't surrender your creativity to the Tech Billionaires' control!"
I missed this from @phineas.bsky.social when it originally came out but it sure feels relevant at the moment.
Also, you can buy this as a print from the artist here:

There is no McTry.
Info about an account sharing viral video of the moon saying it’s Artemis 2 but it’s not, and that account is blocking people who point it out
Just in case folks miss this due to the block
I'd like to thank Bluesky for getting me off Bluesky today.
Video games often have floating platforms, but they don’t explain why the platforms are floating. That’s where game writers come in, to say that platforms are kept aloft by “ghostium” an invisible fog created by the souls of every dead person
As I posted in the comments, yeah, I absolutely feel this.
Narrative veterans are getting ghosted or outright rejected within 24 hours of applying. It's hard for us.
Recently I spoke to some narrative younglings. Had to be honest. I didn't want to crush their hopes, but it's cruel to lie to them.
It's been offline for a couple of months due to hosting issues, but the Video Game Soda Machine Project archive is back online again. If you've ever wanted to browse through more than 3,000 screenshots of soda machines from video games dating back as far as 1983, this is the site for you.
Preparing a draft with those exact words for when a certain guy dies.
If you were someone pinging critics with ‘it’s just lighting cleanup’ a few days ago, I need you to use this as a jumping off point to thinking about your susceptibility to talking points and marketing rhetoric more generally. It was right there in front of all of our faces.
Just the story of his name is one of the coolest things of all time
Same mood, only I'm 52 and don't even get contacted by headhunters anymore lol.
Only a question of time until the hashtag #noVidia starts trending and we all return to Matrox.
Graphic in an early Soviet style, showing three stages of a worker wielding a hammer onto a computer with the letters 'AI' on the screen. The text slogan on the image reads 'If you see AI, you block AI'

eXistenZ is a movie that anyone working in games should watch. Prescient in a lot of ways, it's also a story about a woman game designer who is getting chased by men who don't like how she designs games. (Yes, really.)
I read thousands of pages of Epstein files this weekend trying to understand what he wanted out of his meeting with 4chan's Christopher Poole. Here's everything we know about Epstein's plans to dismantle the internet and, eventually, democracy.

If that "cultural takeoff" slings AI dudes out of my gravitational field, I'm all for it!
ah, "Anchorman"
I say this with utmost respect, but Taylor is an absolute tool for saying this privately or publicly.
I can say on good authority that it takes 7 to 10 years to develop game development skills to “good enough” to produce commercial game content. 7-10 years plus the cost of a university education.
A page from the manual. The "Introduction" part starts with the text ...
So ... the sleazy text adventure is actually set in a postapocalyptic 2020. And although the skies are not green (neither in reality nor in the game) I think this is an inside joke decades in the making. :)
Wrong! As historians know, the original Larry in 1987 was a graphical remake of the Sierra game "Softporn Adventure", a text adventure from 1981, adding the main character and being a legend due to its cover.
But take a look into its manual ...
So, yeah, dude seems to be on something and hallucinates. At least he knows the correct year, since the game was released in 2020.
No inside joke here.
Right?
Larry in front of the toilet. Subtitle (from the person in the booth) says: "The year is 2020 A.D. Alas, the skies are green with plutonium, interest rates are doubling annually, the world has become weird and bizarre ..."
Because I haven't reallly posted here quite some and just feel like it - here's my favourite adventure game inside joke. No, not some three headed monkey, too many of those already.
In our second Larry "Wet Dreams Dry Twice" there's a guy in the toilet you never see. Knock the door, he says ...
