Orgs generally don’t train their own Foundation Models (it’s almost always more effective to use a model from a leading AI lab).

Serving the model up is called ”inference” and happens in datacentres via e.g. MS, Google, Amazon. And it’s less energy intensive than serving Netflix/iPlayer/YouTube.

You can think of an AI lab “manufacturing” a model, and that is called training (split into pre-training and post training). It is very energy intensive but it only happens once.
