I’ve been up since 2am after having a late night cup of Texas Pecan coffee while getting ready for today. But too bad I’m finally sleepy now because it’s time to “make the donuts!” 🍩 😩 #EinsteinFellows25
That’s in the Hart Building!! Please say hello next time you’re in town! I would love to meet with and discuss the future of our students’ education in Aldine ISD and beyond!
Thank you, Dr. Ben!
I know I haven’t posted in a long while but I’ve been a little busy. Here’s what I’ve been up to…
Did you know? Extending your waiting time after asking a question makes room for methodical thinkers and shy students—and can improve class participation rates by as much as 30%. Meanwhile, asking students to think-pair-share before soliciting answers can boost participation rates up to 70%, compared to immediately calling on students. That awkward silence where every second feels like an hour actually has its benefits! ⏳ 🙌

I totally align w/what you said about “exposing students to a wide array of career & educational options via career fairs, mentoring and hands-on learning from an early age” that will “spark curiosity and ignite ambition,”. This is MY WHY & has been the entirety of my prof. career as an educator.
Oh, I looked it up on YT immediately!!! I can’t wait to “open my window again”!! I wondered where Rome Flynn was. HTGAWM was a long time ago!!
I display this prominently in my classroom and reinforce it with the actions of celebrating when students find and correct their mistakes while respectfully challenging each other’s thinking.
Wait, what????? Let me go find this right now!!
Pretty dress!
As a (district-winning) XC coach, I encouraged my runners to ‘run YOUR race’ —> ‘always push yourself to do your absolute best & you’ll always win by learning & getting better.’ TTE, I do not compare myself to others. I compete against who I was yesterday. #DontLose #Grow #GrowthMindset #RedefineWIN
Congratulations 🎉🍾🎈
Beyond frustrating.
True!! And even if the T does want the best for their Ss and doesn’t know or isn’t equipped to give it to them, we’re in the same boat! If indeed student achievement is the priority, the leaders and proponents of education really need to put the money where their mouth is!!
But tying everything ($$) to current achievement (test scores) even with getting a boost from student growth, will never get us there in time enough to affect the students we have now. The slope isn’t steep enough and the math ain’t mathing.
Yes, this is true! Something needs to shift without forsaking the students’ current and future needs. We have to look at the bigger picture and figure out how we marry the two. 10+ years ago, I said when the emphasis is put on growth and not right now results, maybe we can start to see improvement.
@phonisha.bsky.social We cannot remove ourselves from teacher efficacy! A couple of days of PD is not gonna cut it!!!
@phonisha.bsky.social this speaks to your point of this repost. Now follow me to the other one…
Agreed. Can’t wait to watch my niece and her friends make up new games and songs while running around and not having a care in the world.

14 dots that can visualized in different ways.
5 groups of 3 minus 1 = 14 or as I type this, 3 groups of 4 minus 1 plus 3 = 14
Nor can they pick their parents.
Very true. We need that parental support in all aspects. So how do we as educators address these things, especially when we don’t have them and still maintain and improve student outcomes?
No, schools cannot do it all nor do we hold universities responsible for their course teachings. FAPE means “y’all do it all” but once we choose & start paying “we must pay attention.” So 👿 advocate again, shouldn’t districts be held to a higher standard since Ss can’t choose their schools?
100%!!!
Those are all correct statements. Playing devil’s advocate for a second, who should the parents hold responsible in this instance? The district?
Because no one was paying any attention to that child at home!
I’m listening… Tell us more, please!!
