This sort of arrangement I understand is also common on cruises? I've never been, but a friend described a service from the cruise line picking up their bags inside his house and then they automagically appeared in his berth.

I just remember seeing pictures of it. It was quite awhile ago, so probably more expensive today. I think they sort of did a self-arranged group thing for the whole trip.
I don't remember the exact service, but I think they were allied w UPS? I remember they had special thin, stand-up boxes for their bikes, and they just took off the pedals and loosened and flipped their handle bars sideways. They sent like 10 bikes to some bike shop in Moab. Shop had them ready.
Shipping a 35 pound box via UPS is comparable in price to what an airline charges. All the major airlines are upping prices to $50 per piece next few months.
Nah, the hotels would handle it. There'd be a bigger baggage room (most hotels already have a small one.)
I'm sure it would be more expensive, but if the norm was to do this, I suspect prices would drop significantly, because UPS would just have to make a couple of runs daily from an airport to all the hotels in the city, dropping 4 to 20 bags off at each. Bigger hotels or resorts, even more.
Let's say you're taking a family of 2 adults and 2 kids on vacation to Florida for 5 days. You think it's more convient to haul all those bags to your car, then into the airport security, then baggage claim to your taxi and into the hotel, than it is to have UPS deliver them from your door to hotel?
Because you want a UPS driver to pick up your bags at your house so you don't have to lug them to your car, through the airport, and then in an Uber or train to your hotel?
America produces 11-13m bbl/day of oil. There is 200m barrels of floating capacity diverted from Hormuz and now heading toward the US ready to pay *any price* to fill up so they can feed refineries around the world. How long do you think American physical oil stays at $80-90/bbl?
Just dropping this thread here from yesterday.

Remember this Trump post as American prices for spot physical oil delivery begin ramping up along with US gasoline prices. How many days until Trump is restricting the amount of oil foreigners can buy? US refiners have been spoiled with $80-90/bbl physical oil. That's about to end.
Very unclear to me why UPS or FedEx do not start a luggage delivery service. One big truck everyday from the airport to a bunch of hotels in each. Send your packed bags a day in advance. Hell, my frIends once sent their BIKES ahead via UPS to a bike shop in Moab for like $20.
Lose the WSJ, WaPo, CBS and CNN but pick up InfoWars. Hmmm.
Bring bacon to the negotiation.
Rosneft’s Tuapse Oil Depot and Export Facility in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, is currently ablaze, with dozens of tanks seen burning as thick black smoke pours into the sky, following a large-scale drone attack tonight by Ukraine against oil infrastructure across Southern Russia.
This is why I never switched to Apple. You think Apple's head of hardware engineering is going to admit his mistake on this?
Seems ... unlikely.
House Judiciary Dems will soon launch an investigation on this.
Stay tuned.
Steve Cook is stepping down as Apple CEO effective Sept 1, 2026. John Ternus will take over as CEO. Cook will continue as Executive Chairman.
"Admits?" That's a remarkable choice of words. AFP had the opposite conclusion. bsky.app/profile/en.a...
The IRGC wants Trump to attack Iran. It will not dislodge them from power, but it will anger the population against the US and will more align Iranians behind the (very unpopular) Iranian govt and IRGC than the US. This is the strategic trap Trump blundered into and now he's in zugzwang.
You know what undemines Fed independence? The appointment of Trump loyalists to the FOMC who behave w a view toward politics. Is Warsh a stooge who will attempt to help Republicans during midterms by juicing the economy in the short run even if it's long run inflationary? Seems likely.
Maybe they can buy equipment from the solar wafer manufacturing that China is decommissioning.

Interesting contradiction from Trump on inflation (vis Biden), but really, he's just pre-covering Trump for the inflation he knows is coming this year resulting from the war in Iran.
I know that seems like an inflammatory post, but it is very worth noting that in many basic ways, the christian nationalists governing the US have fundamental differences with Israel despite the seemingly deep military alliance.
Maybe when Trump is reading the bible tomorrow, he should pick a reading from the New Testament instead of the Old, see how that goes over in Jerusalem. I wonder what Douglas Wilson thinks?
Democracy dies in darkness, right? So let the disinfecting sunlight of litigation discovery begin.

Nah. Every AI fontier model is getting maxed out in terms of compute for inference and will for the foreseeable future. And the revolution for desktop AI inference and robotics has barely started. There's a reason Nvidia has mindblowing 70% margins.
The combination of
1. Trump angering the rest of the world at the US with tariffs and skyrocketing commodity prices, and
2. The physical resource shortages that are about to get very real everywhere all at once,
has the potential to boil over into a massive disaster for the world.
