I had the audacity to think--silently, in my head--"maybe we're finally done with snow for the year."
I'm sorry.
"Earthset" photo taken by the Artemis 2 astronauts showing a cratered lunar surface starting to overtake the crescent of Earth as it begins to set behind the lunar surface. Overlaid on the top of the image is text stating '"I have two Microsoft Outlooks, and neither of those are working" - Cmdr Reid Wiseman - Artemis II mission'
Quack and whatnot.
Finding an artist who likes ducks as much as I do was a godsend.
Homeslice keeps opening commissions the months that I'm strapped for cash.
Nevertheless, good art. Good artist. Very communicative. Throw money at.
I think companies might finally be realizing that AI usage is expensive as hell and the code it puts out is unmaintainable, barely-functional spaghetti garbage; rather than being the magic bullet of headcount reduction and cost savings they were hoping for.
The easing of the bubble seems to be rapidly approaching at least. The company I work for has been absolutely obsessed with making devs use AI for the past 3 years, and this week they've halted the rollout process to new devs and are desperately trying to rein in how many tokens are being used. 1/

Quick guide for people who need help understanding whether a studio is ‘Independent’ or not:
Studio Trigger -> Not a subsidiary -> Independent
Titmouse -> Not a subsidiary -> Independent
Spindlehorse -> Not a subsidiary -> Independent
Glitch Productions -> Not a subsidiary -> Independent
I knew the Artemis missions were going to be cool as fuck but I didn't realize just how emotionally overwhelming it would be.
We're actually going back.
After 54 years.
We're finally actually going back.
She knows. And she knows that we all know. This gives her power.
Amendment to this: it's *POSSIBLE* that the termination of a single contractor is what spawned this, but the allegations frame the behavior as affecting all contractors, which it would. That's one of the core parts of unionization; that a violation against one is a violation against all.
TL;DR, not TL;DW. My bad. I'm so used to summarizing videos for people that I got wires crossed in my head.
The internet needs to calm down. Unions are good. They protect their members. But--just like with everyone who's able to claim something--not every claim they make is automatically true by default. We have the NLRB for a reason. They will suss out the truth.

Spindlehorse is a company with 200+ employees, and any company of that size will have distinct managerial departments. Vivziepop is the founder/owner/director/producer, but it's incredibly unlikely she's involved in contract negotiations and HR decisions.
(10/)
I've seen a ton of people taking the initial NLRB filing and running with it as "proof" that Vivziepop specifically is some monster who regularly abuses and mistreats her employees when that's not what's being alleged here.
(9/)
This is simply to point out that the claims aren't anything super salacious or world-ending in their severity; but rather a kind of labor dispute that goes down thousands of times per year.
(8/)
To be clear: This is not to say that these allegations are unimportant or should be ignored. If an investigation bears out that Spindlehorse has been engaging in unfair labor practices, there should obviously be consequences for it.
(7/)
It is not about wrongful termination of an individual (the policy change(s) affect(s) a group)
(6/)
All in all, this isn't a particularly spicy suit. This is a pretty bog-standard union-affiliated labor contract dispute.
There are no allegations of illegal discipline, violence, or egregious conduct
There are no claims of discrimination based on protected characteristics
(5/)
It is important to keep in mind that these are allegations, and that nothing is concrete until it goes through an investigation and either a settlement is reached or the NLRB reaches a conclusion.
(4/)
-1b. Refusing to promote contractors to full-time employees
-1c. Implementing a policy to terminate employees after a project is complete and not providing them with re-hire information
2. Failed/refused/delayed in providing information to the Animation Guild.
(3/)
TL;DW: It is alleged that Spindlehorse:
1. Unilaterally modified employment conditions without notification or opportunity to bargain and discriminated/retaliated against employees, in both cases by:
-1a. Refusing to allow employees to work at the main office
(2/)
The charging document in the NLRB case against Spindlehorse has been released, and it provides more clarity regarding the nature of the dispute. Attached are both a link to the charging document directly from the NLRB, and a screenshot of the relevant portion.

If your machine has been running the same install of 10 for a while, it might be worth doing a system integrity check. It's not uncommon for Windows Update to corrupt system files, which can cause instability.

a digital illustration in the style of a relief print depicting a black cat in a defensive pose holding a torn and tattered transgender pride flag in its mouth as it looks directly towards the viewer. the background is purple with some specks of blue and pink showing through, and behind the cat is a black midground resembling grass or flames. the top right corner features a box with a caption reading "T.D.O.V."

I sure do love that this dipshit is more concerned with making legacy media fall in line behind the Party than anything else.
Totally not bitter over the 47 spam calls I've had since Monday despite being on the do not call list and being opted out of prescreened offers, making every one a crime...
