I had the pleasure of helping ASI get up and running, and I am so excited to see how they advance Arctic climate science 🧊
Climate interventions are like AI: I'd rather we didn't use them, but they are inevitable. They should be rigorously researched, decoupled from profit, and not deployed until community + government structures are ready. Meanwhile, I'm stoked initiatives like ASI exist!

Someday, with luck and hard work, she will have a name too.
Happy Tax Day, New York. We’re taxing the rich.
Men whose careers rely upon their very public image seem to assume assaulting women won't tarnish them. Dear god, I hope we stop proving them right.
Picture of the century. 😍

Living in a world with no consequences for actions is exhausting
America's oil execs have pocketed $1.4 billion selling stock during the Iran war, the WSJ reports
This cash windfall won’t go primarily toward yachts and private jets, but toward political campaigns and lobbying orgs dedicated to blocking climate policy and fueling authoritarianism
Yeah so he is just going to keep doing the thing where we are in a constant state of uncertainty, confusion, stress, and tension because that is what abusive people do and the people who are in a position to address this are asleep at the switch.
Mamdani is not just filling the potholes with the crew. He's creating a visual and personal reminder of the dignity inherent in all of these anonymous government jobs.
All* the significant long-term trends in climate over the last 60 years or so are driven by human activity.
*very minor caveats apply
😢
Kate is the absolute best, and I'm heartbroken for her and the state of climate science in general because of this government. Selfishly, though, I'm thrilled she's staying in NYC
This is what ecocide looks like.
New Yorkers: if you can do so safely, take a moment to step outside (even on your front stoop) for a moment and appreciate how quiet the city is right now. ❄️
Cities aren't loud. Cars are loud.
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”
That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
Geoengineering rightfully makes people uneasy, but at the rate we’re going, it would be foolish not to research our options–both to see what might be safe and to know what to avoid. Research ≠ deployment

Support trans kids and get cookies?! Say less
That’s the woman who said whatever that guy is saying, 5 minutes ago, but got ignored.
The amount of bad shit going on is doing constant psychic damage to anyone w/a shred of morals. Idk what to do other than try to focus on actions that will improve literally anything, whether that's getting people connected, fed, refueled for the marathon, or ecosystem action. Idk what else to do.
NCAR is quite literally our global mothership.
Everyone who works in climate and weather has passed through its doors and benefited from its incredible resources.
Dismantling NCAR is like taking a sledgehammer to the keystone holding up our scientific understanding of the planet.
Unbelievable.
The world’s favorite climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe recommends HUMAN NATURE!
No one deserves recognition more than Kate! Read her book. It comes highly recommended by my dad, which might actually be more meaningful than this Scientific American review
All I want for Christmas is for the worst people in the world to experience some consequences
It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.
stinadeee 4h "The abuse of women and girls is the most pervasive and unaddressed human rights violation on Earth." - Jimmy Carter "I am fortunate to have a lot of strong women in my life..." - George W. Bush "I'm absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything..." - Barack Obama "Quiet! Quiet Piggy!" - Donald Trump
Women are watching abusive dynamics play out on the national stage and for many it feels very, very familiar to what they’ve experienced regularly—
I hope midterms are a referendum
You know what would be nice? Repercussions for actions, just sayin’
