For those of you who aren't tuned in, this a call for genocide against disabled people.

birds: they will never email you. and that’s a promise.
I get to the airport at the exact right time every time. Anyone arriving any earlier than me is a sap, anyone arriving any later is a reckless nut.
I feel like this is the most succinct possible representation of The Entire Problem
Don't be shy to take on a little two-week side project. These five months will be the most precious three years of your academic journey.
And here's the wild, wild coda:
In the late 1960s, a young civil engineer was contracted to demolish an old, run down county house on the edge of Baltimore City and build townhomes. But the house looked older than the records and he decided instead to buy and repair it.
This is like going to a bullfight wearing PETA underoos.
This is really rad! Congratulations!
A little bit of numeracy is a great way to stay grounded in objective reality!
Like are we *really* going to have people accept AI telling them 2 + 2 = 5 and wonder why they didn't pass their classes?
I mean, I kind of think this is true?
For me, keeping some ability to do mental math makes it much easier to spot obvious errors and innumerate arguments.
Got more cuts and takes than Bruce Willis / Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is
Everyone go get yourself a subscription to Defector; it’s one of like six good websites
Man in grad school I made a ~3 foot Sephadex column and I used to think that was pretty cool 🫠
As I’ve said before: methane is not the climate system’s long-term problem, but anyone sufficiently worried about short-term warming to be contemplating solar radiation management should be advocating far more heavily for methane reductions.
My child has declared this Elephant Bird Awareness Day and wants me to tell some people.
Were you aware of elephant birds? You are now.
Our PhD student Kennedy Orwa, who studies applications of AI to health care, was hastily deported today to Kenya along with his 13-year-old son without opportunity to speak to legal counsel.
King 5 reports that he held a valid visa that was rescinded without explanation.
I have seen one good example of this plate
The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.
Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

Wishing you and yours a very merry Confederate Surrender Day.
Newspaper article from the 70’s with all-caps headline “biologists, ecologists argue”
All time great newspaper headline (from Dr Geraldine Knatz’s seminar on the history of the Port of Los Angeles)
A WHOLE CIVILIZATION WILL DIE TONIGHT My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools. Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's "keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's "we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight." It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before. "It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time. A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead. @michaelfdubois Mukad A QuBoy @michacifdubois

My kids both got those books. Charmingly, they first knew Dolly as "the lady who writes all those books", it blew their minds when they found out she sings songs too

A few people have replied to my Artemis posts with links to Gil Scott-Heron's "Whitey on the Moon." Here's a story from Space.com about Artemis II pilot Victor Glover, currently en route to fly around the Moon, and his connection to that piece. www.space.com/space-explor...
this + if any Supreme Court justice *doesn't* reject Trump's attack on the constitutional order in the birthright citizenship case, Congress would have good cause to pursue impeachment
it's that flagrant

As an academic: I figured this out surprisingly late in life!
