I just came back from Westfield, IN, where, with the City of Carmel, there are over 100 roundabouts. Many are 2-laned, and they work great. More are being built all the time. My 91 year old uncle thinks they are a great asset to the community. N. County is the only place I've heard people complain.

The headline is misleading. The high collision rate at Carlsbad Blvd. & State St. is largely attributable to drunk drivers, and collision severity is prevented by the design-enforced low speeds.
