PRH having a slew of layoffs just months after S&S did theirs is just so disheartening. It’s hard not to feel jaded. I feel so bad for all my editorial colleagues and for the fact that Dial BYFR has been completely shuttered. We need books. Children need books. And those editors deserved better.

I desperately wish B&N had not put a hard stop on New Adult as a category. Clearly it is a desired categroy for books. Readers want them! But you can't keep screwing over Actual Teen Readers by ignoring 13-16 year olds in favor of publishing for 19-22 year olds. STOP IT.

There's a YA book coming out in a month with a 21 year old love interest. AUTHORS & PUBLISHERS: YOU CANNOT KEEP DOING THIS. Are you aware these headhunters are looking for any opportunity, any excuse to ban books? YOU CANNOT HAVE A LOVE INTEREST IN THEIR 20s IN A BOOK FOR TEENS.
