@pritiagarwal.bsky.social, Zaidel-Bar et al. define the stage-specific gene expression programs of a leader cell that drives collective tissue invasion during organ #development, identifying membrane #trafficking as a central regulator of leader cell behavior. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

Visiting with science trainees, I get asked a lot for advice, and I've landed on this as key for me:

Rather than worry about where life will take you– no matter where life takes you,

Aim to do good and do it well.

As to the “Where life will take you” question, only time will tell.

Tissue mechanics and systemic signaling safeguard epithelial tissue against spindle misorientation Bosveld et al. identified a multilayered system of safeguards that reuses homeostatic mechanisms to maintain epithelial integrity and cell number in the face of spindle misorientation. This work delin...

How do cells orchestrate themselves to achieve a directional movement as a group?

Hi, I’m @sayukihirano.bsky.social. In this thread, I’ll highlight key mechanisms of how cells communicate with each other to perform directional collective migration.

Keeping up with the neighbours: local synchronisation of cell fate decisions during development - EMBO Reports Even before the advent of multicellular life, unicellular creatures would communicate with their neighbours to coordinate their behaviours. Multicellular organisms have the particular challenge of orc...

Hello, here is a review I wrote about how cells sometimes try to synchronise with surrounding cells so that they can do a good job of building tissues during development. It is called "Keeping up with the neighbours"

As the year ends, I recall this year's most memorable experience - the 16th Dev Bio International Course hosted jointly by @institutcurie.bsky.social and @sorbonne-universite.fr. Amazing talks by all the speakers. So grateful for the opportunity. Hoping the new year brings more! :)
