Hope in Democracy. Hope is a practice. Despair, or hopelessness, kills engagement. Action is the antidote to despair.
Great book with actionable ideas, questions to help self reflect, and examples for how to improve your own civic engagement.
Okay, so what do we DO??? Inform ourselves. Get involved. Make friends. Set goals. Build community. Prioritize selfcare. Contact your reps. Be specific. BE ANNOYING. Have conversations. Involve your kids. "The status quo isn't going to change itself, and it's going to take a lot of collective effort." You and your community are in it together!
One recommended actions we've seen is to start a book club where ideas can be discussed.
So we did it!
"Democracy in Retrograde" was a great discussion with ideas for how to get involved in a way that best suits each person.
