Timed exercises because it can feel grounding seeing everyone else in the class drawing like shit with the same amount of time. Sometimes getting hung up on the details comes from comparing to others
Throwing in abstract art assignments and exercises of "draw in 10 min (5 min, 3 min, 1 min, 30 sec, 10 sec) might also help to reduce a barrier of perfectionism. Abstract because it helps convey feelings and use techniques you otherwise may not--
Another thing that could be useful is identifying where the student gets hung up and seeing if there's a pattern. Part way through lineart and getting hung up on lineart? Probably doesn't like it. Almost all the work is sketches? fuck the lineart, color the sketch. Probably finds it the most fun!
One thing for me that took a while to click was the "stop and come back later" approach because I don't WANT to stop. I want to keep drawing, it's fun! I'm just not having fun with this particular piece, but I want to keep drawing! And then I realized that me drawing something else WAS the break
Giving myself the break and allowing myself to keep the creative juices going helps. When you have enough stuff to switch through and are at the limit of projects, eventually shit gets done

I don't think I ever uploaded this piece I did for a Crisis Core zine a couple years ago since I felt I had rushed it. I'd initially planned it to be a papercraft but had to go a different route for health reasons.
I went with a more Cartoon Saloon influenced style.

Wait y'all know how people were slamming the newest season of one punch man? For a PNG sliding across the screen? The final episode has that with knives. It was awful.
My final thing of note is that you can tell it was cheaper to animate 2D during the last couple of episodes because the switch was very, VERY noticeable and jarring. While the 2D looks wonderful, it sticks out like a store thumb because everything until the last two EPs was ONLY 3D.
- Stargaze is set up in a way that EXPECTS you to know all about Tesla already. She needed to have been explored more, because if you don't know about her already it is really, REALLY hard to tell what is going on.
- Zachary never read the manga and even asked me to explain Tesla to him.
- There is nothing else to her personality or character.
- I actually liked the final fight for the most part but I really, really wish there was another season. Being able to explore The Horrors Of Teslaβ’οΈ for a longer period of time would have been more impactful.
- Milly comes off as a flat character (with a couple of bumps of character growth.) I like her being a worm rancher and how she can communicate with worms. (Even if it's brought out of nowhere.)
- I like her being able to tell what Meryl is thinking.
- I like her still being silly
- Which also feels very weird considering she is like. The ONLY black character?
- Gray The Nine Lives being a group of mammals that are presumably native to no man's land is never fucking touched on. Up until you see them, you're told that the only native life on this planet is the BUGS.
- (Above point) mostly because after her initial introduction, Jessica is seen so much but has so, so, so little character development. Her personality truly and genuinely can be reduced to "but vwash :(" and becoming a reoccurring gag for wanting her patch on Vash's jacket.
- How they handled legato (and his death.)
- The fact that the final fight really only had. Two? Episodes of buildup?
- Somehow there was 12 episodes but I truthfully can only recall like. Idk. 5 at best.
- I REALLY wanted to like Jessica. I did not like Jessica.
There was many aspects I liked, but a LOT more things I disliked.
Zachary and I finally finished Trigun stargaze (we were putting off the last few episodes, lol.) Truthfully, this season was underwhelming and rushed. (Which doesn't even begin to describe it.) You can tell Toho just did NOT give a shit with stargaze.
