Every feed I run is currently on @graze.social. Graze provides me with phenomenal infrastructure, free of charge; you can also use it, today, to remix my feeds so they're customised for your news reading needs.
If every 📰 News feed user chipped in $1 /mo., it would fund the whole feed ecosystem.
Folks have been reaching out about how to support Graze beyond our core product. We think that support needs to go beyond Graze.
That's why we've teamed up with our direct competitors @skyfeed.app and @blueskyfeedcreator.com to jointly support all our work:
@atls.city !set GB-ENG-London
I do data viz and there's always a point when you're working on something and it looks like hot garbage but then you replace one variable and it all snaps into place.
It's the most satisfying feeling I've experienced in any type of coding.
Whenever I've tried to do vibecoding, I miss that feeling.
We've now added most of the ATproto regional accounts to @atls.city.
@atproto.la @atproto.boston @atproto.fr @atproto.london @atproto.berlin @vancouver.atprotocol.community @atproto.to
If you're a member of these communities, add an atls.city label to see posts on the Near You feed!
HELL YEAH
"The discussion was revived in February, when Burns told her she’d been talking to Jarjour about launching the first paid subscription bundle. Burns, Kabas told me, was 'foundational to making this happen.'"

Actually I take that back, Tangled has the potential to be a very successful B2B enterprise if they ever went in that direction.
I think a big test is, does a project provide value outside of the atproto ecosystem?
Honestly it only really makes sense in a B2C capacity right now, the fact something like handles.net wasn't able to succeed makes me pretty sceptical we're anywhere near close to having self-sustaining B2B projects in the Atmosphere. Would love to be proven wrong tho.
Anyway I think what I'm trying to say is that Magento is a monetisable ecosystem to the extent that a random midweight agency was willing to pay good money for two (at least!) contractors to implement it a decade ago, whereas I suspect the Atmosphere isn't anywhere near that point yet.
Badly
I played bass guitar.
True story, I tried to bridge Magento with Drupal back in like 2013, failed miserably, then started a short-lived freejazz band with the poor contractor who got saddled with it after I left the agency
This is good to hear, that lack of being able to reference other resources in labels is probably the biggest thing preventing me from trying more ambitious labeller projects.
In my talk at AtmosphereConf I discussed how civil society orgs like journalist unions and press regulators could proactively use labels to create these quality signals without centralising authority about who gets to call who a journalist. It's a really unexplored space but it really excites me.
I would love to work with y'all on this. There's two sides to it imo. On one hand gatekeeping who gets to be called a "journalist" is a fundamental tension in the industry because quality signals are how journalists differentiate themselves. Otoh that gatekeeping shouldn't be done by tech companies.
It needs a rebase so it probably ain't *that* much but I did die inside a lil bit when I saw that line count
Need a labeller to add "account created after Jerrification event" and "damn you old" labels
Good morning. "Jerry Chen Seeking Verification" was a 32-month sociological experiment studying the effects of excessive nagging on social media and its effects on users, conducted by Quinnipiac University. We are now complete with our study; thank you for your time.
That would be sensible, wouldn't it?
If you're looking for an industry-leading data visualisation specialist for your company, my DMs are open.
I do not, in fact, recommend starting the morning after you return from two weeks of annual leave with reviewing a 37,000 line pull request to key infrastructure.
Before Trans Day of Visibility comes to a close, we're wishing our community strength and solidarity in the face of a well-funded, organized, and cynical campaign to erase us from public life.
The bigots will lose. Trans love and joy will win.
We'll keep showing up every day to work towards this.
don't usually share substacks but this one feels important. shatterzone.substack.com/p/the-trans-...
hello 👋 i have developed a new tool called blüuümpíi. blüuümpíi will convert every file on your hard drive to a .wav file without asking you, maximize your system volume, and play them on every bluetooth speaker you have ever connected to. if you offer feedback on blüuümpíi i will take legal action
This could also be a place where 3rd party tooling like the Account Activity Labeler could be useful, but Bluesky as an app is pretty awful for surfacing these kinds of userland features. I imagine not many journalists here know about 3rd party labellers (or custom feeds!) for that reason.
Like, an idea: once a user gets a verification on here, it would be a pretty trivial UI change to make users walk through a few preference panels, giving some opinionated defaults and describing why they're helpful. I suspect that would go a long way towards improving the experience of journalists.
One thing pre-Musk Twitter did when you got verified was they gave you new ways to sort/filter your mentions, and I wonder whether part of the issue you're highlighting is not having the affordances most relevant to users sufficiently signposted when they're likely to start needing them.
Exactly this. Also, it shouldn't be understated what a rare opportunity this is to help define the standards and norms of how advertising is used in this space, instead of having them dictated to us by ad industry incumbents later down the road.
