Superclipping = The cars slowing down to recharge. It was previously only a 250kw charge delivery, so raising it to 350kw means you get more powerful charging while superclipping. Battery capacity (MJ) = How much power the battery can store. If you reduce the maximum, then it doesn't take as long to charge up to the new lowered ceiling Both of these things just drop how much time you really have to spend on charging with the latter only being for Quali, probably in hopes to get almost completely normal laps again
unfortunately a lot of folks do not seem to understand what superclipping and battery capacity do in these new regs. so here's some clarification on that.
Ah I see, so in both quali and race, the cars will now recharge much faster when superclipping, meaning they dont have to do it as much And then for quali ONLY, the max capacity of the battery is reduced, meaning it's even easier to fill it up Also interestingly they're making so that the car does less battery deployment in certain cornering sections, which is clever. Since the drivers often don't need full throttle in corners, you might as well just make the car conserve battery during those sections They won't lose any pace from this though, the drivers can just push the pedal harder and work the gas engine harder in corners They won't be near full throttle yet meaning they should have as much overall power as they need despite the lessened battery deployment The auto MGU-K deployment for race starts is essentially just creating a minimum launch speed, preventing anyone from getting off the line so slow that its dangerous
none of this hurts. these are all really good changes that, i would like to emphasize, had to be UNANIMOUSLY agreed upon by all teams.
this start minimum does not hurt ferrari in any way.
