The guys on tour should be 85-90% lower Juryo + upper Makushita; with the "big names" only showing up here+ there; like in their home prefectures. Jungyo should be the way young up-and-coming rikishi are introduced to new fans; + get their first "supporters".

afaik this is his first major injury

They should really cut down the jungyo schedule or at least let only take half the guys on tour and rotate who goes each time

Kotoshoho is the GenX of Sumo. How is it that he does well & cameras/commentators either ignore him outright or keep referring to his win last July as a "fluke"?13 wins is not a fluke. He got yet another fighting spirit prize this Harubasho.

Enhō will be back in jūryō next basho - it's an historical first - he’ll be the first since Showa era (starting 1926) to come back to jūryō all the way from jonokuchi (Terunofuji for example fell to jonidan, one division up) #nagoyabasho2026

Kirishima's ozeki meeting is confirmed. He's finally recovered from the yeet heard around the world in January 2024 and now has the opportunity to join every other Mongolian ozeki in going on to yokozuna. It'll be tough but this is shaping up to be a crazy competitive year of sumo

I hope that’s the case. My perhaps paranoid fear is that Enho would have to go above and beyond normal expectations just to be certain that he won’t be snubbed due to the Hakuho association

Brutal matchup tomorrow. They have 6-7 Nishikigi up against 5-1 Enho. Winner presumably gets to be in Juryo next tournament
