If WB had it their way, The Animated Series would've served as an extension of the Tim Burton films (they wanted Burton to EP the show, even!) and NOTHING else. Bruce Timm, Eric Radomski, Paul Dini, Alan Burnett & the rest of the crew ended up giving us something far more substantial than that.

Silhouette of Batman from Batman: The Animated Series

Silhouette of Batman from Batman: The Animated Series

Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

I swear, Ellison and the way he speaks is THE core argument as to why anti-trust enforcement has to be pushed far back from the current status quo.

Like, just saying the quiet part out loud like this (and y'know, getting the Saudis involved) should get you kicked out the room right then and there.

Maybe it doesn't play as well today, but after watching a camrip of Space Jam, I can confirm this gag got one of the biggest laughs.

I went as often as I could to watch the orchestra and I happened to film this part while it was still just a board. Before I wasn't sure what direction to take this shot's animation cause the temp music was bare, then I heard those 3 brass stings and it was done. (used my phone's audio!)

Checked her IMDB to see which film she was referring to, and it's Lego Ninjago lol. NGL, I regularly forget that film exists.......and you probably do too.

Spielberg came a long way from his "I want a new background for EVERY shot!" suggestions back in the Tiny Toons days. Glad to see his input leaned more and more toward his specialty, the storytelling, as he got involved with more animated productions.

Arkham Knight's photo mode is still absolutely incredible. One of the best looking games from 8th gen.

If I went back to my childhood self and told him I would one day be credited on a movie alongside these absolute titans of animation he would beat me up and call the cops.

I’n beyond grateful, immensely honored,
and serving time in 1999.

If you're like me and love the Duck Dodgers TV show, you'll be happy to discover that DC was doing tie-in stories for it on a semi-regular basis as the show was airing! Art was primarily handled by Dave Alvarez and my pal @neals.bsky.social. Great cartooning in these!

Cat's Don't Dance is better than nearly every WB animated film that came after, and it was the one WB had the absolute least to do with.

A drawing of Porky Pig and Daffy Duck. Porky is manning a box office in a theater usher’s uniform, glaring in annoyance at Daffy, who is leaning up against the box office with a dollar bill in his hand and saying:

“Ticket fer one active duty senior citizen student just celebrating his first birthday, if you puh-lee-uhze. And I do believe it’s discount Tuesday?”

There is also a calendar that plainly labels the date as Friday the 14th.

ONE WEEK UNTIL THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP RELEASES IN THEATERS! That means tickets are on sale RIGHT NOW! Please support The Little Film That Could, it’s the first completely animated Looney Tunes movie in the series’ 95 year history! It’s history in the making! I’ve got my tickets booked! Have you?

Animaniacs, a show Paul Rugg wrote for during its entire run, was edutainment in every sense of the word. The idea that childrens TV *can't* educate is at best an extremely flawed one (I do agree that it shouldn't be a necessity however).

Ever wonder where your missing socks end up? Well some say the Sock-King goes out at night, gathering all the spare socks it finds behind dressers, under beds and inside dryers to add to it's collection.
