This series is incredible. I had to stop myself listening to the whole thing at once, because I wanted it to last
For March, books read.

The Sword of Shannara (1977) Brooks - reread
Timewyrm: Revelation (1991) Cornell

I'm looking for your favorite "how to play" videos for rpgs. Not actual plays, think like 5-10 minute board game instructional videos. Like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBDX...
Yess! This is what I look for in 'actual play' - demonstrations to learn how to actually play!
Investigating the mind-shattering cosmic nullities of the Lovecraftian mythos has never been more affordable than with the Trail of Cthulhu PDF Mega Bundle.
Forgot to update this at the end of Feb.

What started as a meetup to learn and play the popular tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons has grown into a community of 2,500 people offering friendship, refuge and mutual aid as immigration enforcement ramps up in Minnesota.
Psy!
Today begins the ending of re-reading my all time favourite book series, Roger Zelazny's Amber Chronicles. Now hurry up, Colbert, and get this TV series into production! 😅
me: I love that this movie feels like Bashki's Fire & Ice.
wikipedia: "Gelatt and King drew inspiration for their work from fantasy and science fiction illustrations by Frank Frazetta and the work of animator Ralph Bakshi, in particular his 1983 film Fire and Ice"
me: Mission accomplished!
I think, like many things, "old classics" are anything from the time you became aware of a thing. It says less about the subject and more about the person saying it. Which is fine! For me as an old, Alex Randolph games are old classics!
(Oops actually Hoopla)
Time between me learning about this movie and borrowing it through Kanopy was 5 minutes, and four of that was figuring out where I could stream it :)
I started watching Blake's 7 on Dec 31 and have kept a pace of one each day since. Today is my final day of watching a new-to-me episode. It's nice to have new old stuff to watch!
The career of Cyberpunk steward Mike Pondsmith gets weird and fascinating when we travel away from Night City and into the decade between 1985 and 1995.
There is no downside.

"A horned and tusked purple thing went racing along the ridge to my right pursued by a hairless orange-skinned creature with long claws and a forked tail. Both were wailing in different keys.
I nodded. It was just one damned thing after another."
- Merle Corey, from Trumps of Doom by Roger Zelazny

So it's Black History Month and that means I think it's a good time to get familiar with Mike Pondsmith, if you're not already.
When you see R. Talsorian Games, that's him. When you see Cyberpunk 2077, that's his world.
Mekton, Castle Falkenstein, also him.

I miss an NHL where wins mattered more than how you lose. Vegas is in first place in their division ahead of 4 teams with more wins. They are in 24th place by wins. I guess gamblers like it more this way and that's most important to the league.
I used to question the stupidity of villains, particularly the autocratic or fascistic ones, in classic Who. The past decade has changed my mind on this and I now think that when they are written as stupid it is merely a more accurate portrayal. And Servalan is A+ both wicked and dumb here.

Best of this season is a low bar but it clears it with room to spare! And was ever there an exchange better written for Colin Baker than this one?
Bayben - You must be Vila. It's an honour, sir.
Vila - The honour's mine.
Bayben - That's what I meant.
February's series is an all time classic.
"We drove over to Kenni Roi's and got us a bucket of Kentucki Fried Lizzard Partes and another bucket of weak, salty-tasting beer... Then we hit the road again. A tyrannosaurus leaped before us, hesitated for a moment, then went on its way, off to the left."

I started my first watch through of Blakes 7 on Dec. 31 with one episode each day (and catching up with the corresponding Spacefall podcast eps). This story I found quite dire and I fully appreciated the effort you two put in to finding some nicer things to say about it!
I have a policy where I don’t talk badly about other published games
It’s a good policy and I stand by it
Terraforming Mars is a shit game by shit people
