In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.

I don’t know, this didn’t work out too well for Ghorman…

Finally, scientists have found a way to synthesize that precious resource we have in such short supply: young female actresses.

Epic and Lovely is not getting reviewed.

If you feel like doing me a big favor, I'm now in the position of begging for Amazon reviews.

If you want to support small press fiction, me personally, oddly-shaped people, or survivors of abuse, please tell someone, or Amazon, about the book.

F the NYT for giving them air, and F anyone who thinks the way out if this mess is to get “more moderate” on social issues. Address the real issues of wealth disparity, health care, and jobs and stand firm on social issues without giving MAGA air.

OOF never seen it before and it is awful. Your versions are a million times better.

Hate speech isn't political discourse, nor is it protected, for that matter.

Was able to get an appt at Costco in Portland!

Online. Not sure they’d let you get away with using an address not on your ID, but maybe.

Have not had any luck getting an appt in WA, I was rejected by CVS when I tried. Anyone know a pharmacy that has it available?

I hesitated to use a paper towel this morning, and it made me think that the scarcity mentality drilled into the Left is probably a big factor in the Right’s rejection of progressive policies. Is there any way we can reframe conservation so it doesn’t feel like flagellation?

a star wars character is saying `` it 's a trap '' . ALT: a star wars character is saying `` it 's a trap '' .

I recorded a narrator named Erik Bauersfeld for years for audio tours before learning that he was the voice of Admiral Akbar.

As a regular defender of the press, I'm truly gobsmacked by the lack of coverage of Trump's disappearance. Are the editors and owners just proactively capitulating out of fear? Are they operating on an old fashioned idea of decorum? How are we not getting coverage of the disappearance and coverup?

They should retire the character.

Completed my Denis Villeneuve scorecard with his film Polytechnique, a reinactment/dramatization of a school shooting in Montreal. It is stark, heartbreaking, and visceral. I wish he wasn’t mired in Dune.

I saw somewhere that it would only take 130,000 progressives to move to Wyoming to swing the balance of the national elections. Highly mobile Gen Z activists, make it happen!

Jillian Michaels is doing what MAGA does: act like they are victims of an oppressive agenda where white people are forced to feel bad about themselves. Understanding the past, reconciling wrongs, and uplifting others makes us all better people and a better country. Don’t “not all whites” me.

Cannot wait for the day that gaudy gold Dollar Tree shit is pried off the walls of the White House.

I heard from a local movie theater owner that the distributors force them to carry all their films or they’ll be cut off, which is how we end up with the big blockbusters in every theater. It’s absurd, because no one wants to see the big action flicks on a tiny arthouse screen.

I hope this entire administration is enslaved in a fiery angry Black god hell for this.

The President cannot commandeer any local law enforcement.
The President does not run the Smithsonian.
The monthly BLS jobs report is required by law.
Release the Epstein files.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I know the outrages pile up, but this kind of outrageous lawlessness sticks in my craw. Govt. agencies CANNOT be allowed to loot and pillage. Govt agencies CANNOT detain people purely for their ethnicity. This must stop.

County Commissioner Brings Expert on Millionaire Migration Into Preschool Debate Meghan Moyer, a self-proclaimed "nerd," wanted cold, hard data.

Portland "moderates" love to complain that if we increase any taxes to pay for quality-of-life programs like Preschool for All, housing the homeless, and maintaining our parks, that the rich people will flee. The data disagrees. Thanks Commissioner Moyer!

I’m boycotting Amazon as much as possible, but had to order some things I can’t find anywhere else. It always strikes me how the shipping is like a hostage situation - you can pay a fee for exploitative labor to rush it, or they will hold your package for a few days as punishment.

I’m back here, sloughing off Threads for these more independent grounds. Hope to keep informed and inform in return. Power to the people, down with the oligarchy and the techno-fascists. Up with art, movies, music, and empathy.

I still constantly hear people saying that “defund the police” was too strong a message, and a major failure. People are so motivated by fear that they can’t even have a discussion.

We interviewed a wonderful drug counselor for Progress Portland, I think you’ll find it informative. Releasing in the next couple of hours.
