I think the elephant and the rider metaphor about our cognition is overblown and at the very least misleading.

Most of our lives, we implement decisions we made carefully - either as individuals or as societies.

We go to jobs we planned decades ago, on roads the government planned carefully, etc.

Would love to own a good set

It won’t work on Substack unless you talked them into allowing such customizations, which they aren’t likely to want to do given that they are trying to become a SM platform

Or sort of by default means OR but sometimes contextually means XOR, and/or specifics OR

I think and/or is overused (including by me), people should be more comfortable with leaving it implicit

Just watched 4yo assertively confront another 4yo on the playground to defend her 1yo brother

“You need to stop that right now. You cannot just take that toy from him.”

Was instant. Unblinking eye contact, aggressive posture, all up in other child’s face

Felt primal, atavistic

I miss academic twitter

And even the woke scolds. The optimal number of woke scolds is not zero

Trying to post at least one thing on all the apps (here, threads, Farcaster) every day or two

Need a twitter hedge at this point, and there are other reasons too… Twitter has the best network by far but the worst app product by far
