For it's one, two, three, what are we fightin' for? Don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Tehran. And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates for there ain't no time to wonder why, Yippee, we're all gonna die. RIP Country Joe.

I was going to suggest he limit his follows to chronically upbeat posters like @connieschultz.bsky.social but realized he already knew that advice.

This is crucial for part time workers. Many states have no protections against short shifts and split shifts. Just because a restaurant only needs someone for an hour doesn't mean they should make someone come in for a one hour shift.

A research group that Ellen belongs to, SCIMaP, was identified by "The Nation" as one of the Public Health Heroes for 2025. The leaders include @asinclair.bsky.social , @joshuasweitz.bsky.social , and @falklab.bsky.social (Emily Falk). I couldn't be more proud.

Thank you for including that it is pay-walled. I subscribe to several things so I like knowing.

I was taught it in the 60s at UCSD but not with much enthusiasm. Essentially, they said, "observe how much developing mammals look like fish."

I loaned my dvd to a friend, admittedly conservative but not evangelical. He hated it. Didn't find it funny, moving, or profound. Go figure.

Thank you for your effort. I follow people who are generally kind so I prefer not much assholery.

It's said that getting hair to move naturally was one of the hardest things in animation. Her hair moves like it's a single thing not thousands of strands.

I'm surprised that methane is not discussed more. It stays in the atmosphere for less time than CO2 so if we can curtail emissions we should see faster progress.

2/2 Our ability to reduce carbon emissions is better than the most optimistic projections and medicine has shown giant strides, not only mRNA vaccines but using antibodies to fight cancer that gave Carter years of life. I'm not saying we dented the patriarchy but, absent Trump I'd be optimistic

I'd trade ten classes with Herbert Marcuse (I only had one) for one class with Molly Ivins.

Not my favorite week. Two decent but not great from Motown, a Randy Newman song (never a bad idea) a soapy Beatles song and the last gasp of bubblegum rock.

"When we hear and accept what we hear without meeting others, without asking how can it be, without looking for friends outside our circles, when we accept hatred for a group as a legitimate discourse –

This is so important. The trap of "When YOU do this" is very appealing. Only when I recognize that I do this, and will probably keep doing it, do I begin to move on.
