I am in the USA for my sins right now...

Currently detoxifying my social media footprint. My Twitter, Reddit and Quora accounts are all gone as well as several Facebook groups. It feels wonderfully liberating.
'Reform piles blame on a marginalised, demonised, and powerless minority as a distraction from the real minority at the root of so many of the problems which assail society today - the super rich and their unfettered greed.'

Off to bed. Got to be up for Vienna in the morning!
Happy New Year. For various reasons we personally aren't going into 2026 in a very optimistic or happy mood (that's even before we get into the stare of the world/country) but it is what it is I guess.
2025 montage of memories
"Great British Railways" is such a stupid mouthful. Why not just the snappier "British Rail" like it used to be....got the point across perfectly well.
I have logged out of my X account for over a month now. Still haven't suffered a relapse yet...
You are too young to remember Atlantic 252 on LW back in the 1990s. My go-to in mushy mono to escape the banality of Radio 1.
One of the brightest lights in motoring journalism went out yesterday. Thank you, Q for everything.
My last session on the rooftop bar in my hotel at Lisbon
Loved my hotel in Lisbon (the PortoBay Marques), but my wall contained a daily reminder of the funicular railway that crashed last week.
In #Lisbon right now on holiday for the first time and seeing the steep gradients the streetcars have to negotiate up the Bairro Alto it makes the consequences of last week's crash all the more real.
Goodnight Toronto! Standing on Yonge St just next to the Eaton Centre.
If a Tory-Reform pact happens, then my guess is that will cause a Lib Dem surge among centrist Tory voters who have no political home anymore.
After Labour's gains in Scotland last year, Sarwar is naive to think Holyrood '26 is in the bag. Soft nationalists who lent their vote to Labour to ensure a Tory drubbing in Westminster will go back to the SNP, whilst some hardline unionists will be hoovered up by Reform.
I love to see trolls getting checkmated
NEW: French far-right leader Marine Le Pen was banned from running for public office after a court found her guilty of embezzling European Parliament funds.
A Paris court also sentenced Le Pen—who was leading in the polls for the 2027 French election—to 4 years in prison, with 2 years suspended
The same photo taken from the same spot roughly today. Not a trace that there was ever a railway station here.
America, this is how it's done. The French far right political fraudster Marine le Pen has been found guilty of embezzlement by a court and disqualified from holding public office. The French aren't afraid of holding power to account. Former President Sarkozy was found guilty of corruption in 2021
It wouldn't be until 1992 when they made a convertible version of the Audi 80 that the company (albeit in its later/current incarnation) would build an open top car again.
Nice walk in New York City last night on our first night of our Easter break
Especially when you can easily be looking at another hour to get to the centre of London....
Two hours end to end from getting on a plane GLA-LHR counting ATC delays, taxi delays and then getting parked on a remote stand and getting bussed to the terminal. If you aren't connecting on, why would anyone suffer this over the train with the illusion that it is "faster"??
Elon Musk claims "the leftists" are bad-mouthing his company. This isn't true. It's ordinary car buyers who are fed the fuck up.
Is it just my imagination or does Facebook deliberately put the right wing comments on those random topics it puts on your feed to the top?
Proof that the rhetoric of the right never changes.
How is Elon Musk a 'great American'?? He's South African 😂
The world's a mess. Can we stop the treadmill I want to get off...
Last time I came back from overseas to LHR the security was understaffed, they couldn't operate the Fast track lane which just led to even more chaos and confusion. It left me thinking "welcome home"
