Humans and Vortigaunts have different conceptualizations of "domestication", and antlions are already domesticated by Vort standards. After we get the Combine off Earth, we can focus on what really matters: breeding these bad boys for generations until they're docile companions and working partners with new and exciting colorations. Speculation on the mechanics of Half-Life antlion coloration: There are different base colors e.g. green, lime, brown, rust, teal. Features like dappling, dilute/bright stripes, white veining, and rosetting appear on HL2's antlions. I don't know what's going on with the HLA designs. After we domesticate them, we can create more features like piebald, frilled, thick stripes, spotted stripes, and cyan/blue/lilac base colors.

The benefits of my antlion domestication project will be in full force in a few centuries, so I guess Chell can enjoy them at that point in time. They're like dogs they're lying on her lap and trying to climb on her.
