one of my favorite moments in both the show and the books

Wrote a thing about the plugin I'm working on for UE5 to enable efficient development of systems-driven game logic in code or, more importantly, entirely in content.

nope, I lied, some fairly glaring omissions in functionality still. CLOSE THOUGH.
theoretically, the JoyCore system-driven event manager is at min spec level of functionality with everything necessary exposed to the UE editor: github.com/trentpolack/...
Still have some significant testing to do and need to create starter content still, though.
The Pitt season 2 finale was amazing and perfect
github.com/trentpolack/... finally doing a thing, it'll be great. some day.
i finally setup my PC laptop for side shenanigans again for the first time in about a year; even updated my GitHub page: github.com/trentpolack.
Now maybe I'll actually figure out a way to cleanly separate public code/plugins/modules from stuff where I use paid assets to make things pretty.
oh neat, trentpolack.com ranks #4 in game developer sites apparently www.sitebuilderreport.com/inspiration/...
i'm guessing it's not based on timeliness or consistency of content updates
still one of the strongest openings in video games youtu.be/P8XTbluLDyE?...
Kirby Air Riders and Donkey Kong Bananza being in my top five games of 2025 was unexpected
Playing FF Tactics for the first time? Here’s a tip. Go to Mandalia Plain. You’re gonna spend 5 miserable hours having all your characters power up like goku next to a terrified bird or have them throw rocks at each other until they’re max level. This is the best game ever made btw.
is the speedtree store down, like, indefinitely? it's been a few days
modern rendering involves way more bulk material setup than is probably healthy; thankfully: toolbag
i like that my github contribution memorial has two warring sides

I've also been maintaining a repo with Gaea 2.0 graphs that yielded some solid datasets: github.com/trentpolack/...
And then the follow-up work to detail out the landscapes in World Creator here (there's not as much meat here yet): github.com/trentpolack/...
I've been slowly resurrecting an old GitHub grab-bag repository at github.com/trentpolack/.... The plan is to more actively work on systems and content that can be easily placed as standalone work in this repo for wider use.
Everything being an application to find files anywhere on your computer at impossible speeds
i realize this was important context to provide
i don't know how i've gotten this far in life without Everything
this is voxel. she really likes bad religion
[sad honking]
As I’ve been building a 3D renderer with #WebGPU, once you get past the fundamentals, it becomes harder to find guidance.
So I wrote a blog breaking down the minimal architecture I created, as well as covering basic #3D terminology like Geometry and Materials.

my favorite part of game development is the part where things just serendipitously work all at once
lol
I think the resulting software library I have ends up around the monthly price of Maya but consists of, like, 10 separate programs and daisy-chaining functionality together like a madman.
I'm continuously disappointed that Maya LT was abandoned; it was a perfect and affordable software package that provided so much day-to-day necessary functionality at a fraction of Maya's $250/month price point.
I love Houdini and all, but there's just SOMEWHAT of a knowledge chasm there.
i want this but as a web page i can muck with
i need MORE DATA to always stare at
this is lovely, thank you
