When my neighborhood got route improvements protected arterial routes were clearly safer and more usable.

Barcelona has metro, trams, buses, bike-lanes, and walkable (& sit-able) streets. They also have these electric “trackless trams,” which are smooth-riding long buses that look like trams (which are considered cooler so it might help with ridership). I admit, they ARE very cool. Yesterday I left the office early to catch the sunset and process WTF just happened in America. Turns out I was in good company — the Elliott Bay Trail was busy! It was a reminder to me that our trails and public spaces are a critical refuge for our mental health.
