The 18th Century was a wild time, man.

YES!!! How can you even teach/understand history, w/out baseline knowledge of diff religions?! I always taught chunks of religious info in Social Studies (from an academic standpoint) bc otherwise nothing makes sense.
But bc I read/study very spherically, I often assume things are basic knowledge.

I had to explain to a colleague the other day that Muslims, Christians, and the Jewish all believe in the same God, the God of Abraham. She had no concept of the People of the Book.
I had no idea it was niche knowledge.

I mean, literally just the Sermon on the Mount would be enough to clue anyone in to that Jesus fellow’s ideas.

Hence, I’m out there reading “The Handmaid’s Tale” at 15, with no clue as to what’s going on. 😂

Alas, the concept of accomplishment appears to be going out of fashion.
