Posts by Dr Murray Cook

Ha ha it’s been circulating on the other place. Eccentric is too kind. Absolute nonsense propaganda. There are several of them. And very oddly have been in place since 2014/15. It’s really embarrassing that no one knew enough to challenge it.

Carnock House, near Airth, is mentioned in this interesting feature about @dendrochronicle.bsky.social: there's a curious fragment of plaster from Carnock displayed in Kinneil House - which has a free open day tomorrow (see previous post). Here's the plaster fragment: www.trove.scot/object/26493

Looks great… hate to be cheeky but do you know what the online options will be yet? Will be able to read it online like other Sidestone press volumes?

Support Talking-up Scotland To keep countering and rebutting media lies about Scotland

Folks. Please consider supporting Talking-up Scotland. Prof Robertson works his socks off for the Independence movement daily with the TuS research and with your donation can take on other part-time researchers to help him out.

I’ve been seeing this story all morning. I share the horror and anger. We have a historian with an utter disregard to the actual past (and present and future) and a uni PR team that quite frankly needs to go offline.

Definitely!

I completely agree. It needs root and branch reform. I’m in favour of licenses.

I still think the Scottish system needs reformed. The post-ex bill gets bigger each year and is completely beyond the whole sector.

Yes in theory but not before deep public review and the NMS tends to step in as museum of last resort. It would be astonishing for any Roman coin hoard (no native ones of course) to end up
auctioned.

Completely shameful.

2 months ago 3 1 0 0

This could not happen in Scotland!

2 months ago 9 1 1 0

What shameful conduct.

2 months ago 13 0 0 0

This is what happens when 'treasure' can't be bought by a museum - the hoard has been broken up into individual auction lots & will disappear into many different hands, some overseas.

When do we start saying enough is enough??
