I think it was obvious that Brad Frost did a lot of great work during his career, but an expiring contract heading into an offseason after another disappointing season meant change was coming to Ridder Arena. It would probably be more challening to address if nothing was annouced at Minnesota yet.
She's a pro, the best coach in women's college hockey and I'm sure knows how to handle it. College athletics has changed and with the portal, it has never been quicker for rosters to turnover for good or bad.
The 25-26 roster only returned 36 percent of its scoring from the year before. The 26-27 team could return about 77 percent of its scoring and it looks like most of the other B10 teams will have big holes to fill.
Not much to report yet. I've heard that the Gophers will be assertive looking for some defensive scoring help in the portal this offseason and they feel good about their group up front.

Motzko on lack of right shot defense: It's really affected us on our blue line... it has affected us this year from an offensive standpoint because we only have one right-handed defenseman and a lot of times our defensemen are getting the puck on the wall on their backhand.
Motzko: I know there's a handful of our fan base that don't see it that way, but you don't have a choice when you lost the guys that we lost. And if you think you're just going to go in the portal and solve your problems for a year... you know you can [only] do that once in a while.

Mittelstadt: Obviously, the skill is amazing, but, the heart, the compete level every practice is amazing. I think the talent is going to come out even more with just that high work ethic.
#Gophers John Mittelstadt admitted that the team is very different this year compared to last year and he thinks the identiy is going be just working.
Gruba: This summer I was working upstairs with Cal Dietz. I've was here just about every day on campus, taking classes and working out. There's a reason why everyone comes to Dieter. He does such an amazing job and I'm just lucky to have the opportunity to train with him.
#Gophers Leo Gruba shared this week that he's lost 10 lbs from last season and 6.5% of body fat. He said he feels faster out there and hopes it translates towards generating a little more offense this season.
Motzko acknowledged that last year was a bit of an exodus: I never hold it against these guys, it's just part of the world that we have to live in right now. No one feels sorry for the Gophers... we like what we've got coming back, it's just we're not as set in spots.
Motzko said the departures really hit him when filling out the pre-season all-league ballots -- 'In a normal situation he'd be writing Rinzel, Moore, Snuggerud, Kurth... but it's onto the next group of guys and we have a different look about us right now.'

One mea culpa on the show introducing the newcomers... for some reason I said Javon Moore played with the NTDP... there has been a trend of NTDP/Gophers connections playing an extra year somewhere else, Moore stayed with Minnetonka all the way through and then played a post draft year in the USHL.
