🚨BREAKING: Federal officials are hiding the identity of the agent who killed Alex Pretti-calling accountability “doxing.”
No name,no charges. Back on duty. This is how police states operate.
This is authoritarian rule: federal agents kill citizens & the government hides their names in a cover-up.
Beginning today at 12 PM, the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis, in partnership with the American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast, will open the Lincoln Park Community Center as a 24-hour warming shelter/

A joint statement from our Democratic county commissioners about the harmful statement made by Greg Abbott towards the Muslim community. We at HCDP stand together with our Harris County, Texas and national Muslim against the bigotry pushed by Abbott and other U.S. republicans.
Five years ago today, the US Capitol was attacked in an attempt to overturn a free and fair election. Today, we honor those who defended democracy in the face of violence and recommit to truth and accountability.
We must never forget nor allow our history to be rewritten to benefit extremists.
We join our community in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Roderick R. Paige. His lifelong commitment to public education shaped generations of students and educators.
Those who wish to pay their final respects are invited to attend the public viewing and funeral services honoring Dr. Paige.
image of Kyle Cheney Tweet that says BREAKING: Justice Alito has temporarily blocked the Texas redistricting court's order, effectively restoring the newly drawn map, while the Supreme Court considers the petition. https://politico.com/news/2025/11/21/texas-supreme-court-map-case-00665951 And shows screenshot of Alito's language for administrative stay.
Outrageous. This political maneuver is the latest in a coordinated, racially discriminatory attack on voting rights ordered by Donald Trump, orchestrated by Greg Abbott, and now supported from the bench by Justice Alito.
These maps should be thrown out, not upheld by SCOTUS.
The 18th congressional district will go nearly a year without a voice in Congress. Meanwhile, the White House and congressional leadership have drastically cut healthcare and other vital services in the district and across the nation.
Our community deserves better.

I am thinking today of my friend, the great Reverend Jesse Jackson, a dear friend who has always stood up for those in need.
Please keep him and his family in heart as he continues to fight his condition today in the hospital.
He has always stood up for people, and I will always stand with him.
The shutdown may be over, but this deal ignores the most urgent crisis facing Harris County residents: the loss of affordable health care.
See my full statement on the end of the Trump shutdown.
When it comes to the Trump shutdown, the cruelty is the point.

November 1, 2025 | Statement from Commissioner Rodney Ellis on the White House’s Crusade to Deny Benefits to Working Families 32 Days into the Shutdown
"It's pretty embarrassing in the third-largest county in America, in 2025. You got some glaring discrimination," Ellis added. "It's hard to ignore and impossible to justify."

"State extremists in Texas are altering school curriculums to minimize the brutal truths of slavery, racial injustice and police brutality," Ellis said. "They are disproportionately purging books by LGBTQIA authors, women and authors of color."

We thank them for their service and for standing on the front lines to protect the sacred right to vote.
