I've been skeptical about marijuana and THC (and CBD) for some time as they increasingly became a "cure all" without much research to support the purported cures. More data is always good.

Stray. I just loved the premise and mechanics. It was too short.

Add some great artists to you feed and slide a few of them some support. What's not to love?

Crumbs, I forgot the alt-text:
"Currently at a 4.5* star rating among the author's friends and family!
"*(Thanks for nothing, Stu!)
"Everyone loves it, don't worry about it."

AI answers the question "how long will it take to copy a 2.5 terabyte file at 35 megabytes per second" with the astoundingly incorrect "76.67 seconds."

So some AIs never learned that units matter, I guess.

Not only did my libraries help develop my reading interests, they provide computers and Internet access to those who can't afford or access safely, and introduced many of us to national treasure LeVar Burton.

Me in a blue mask, clear face shield, and red shirt with a white lanyard.

I came to BlueSky to fill my eyeballs with cartoonists and art, but I find myself wanting to connect a bit more with my medical compatriots as well. Here's lookin' at you, fellow nurses. :)

As a nurse, I find both this article and @exceedhergrasp1.bsky.social 's commentary/thread on this fascinating. Give it a read, and then go show your local/family nurse some appreciation. :)

A post from girldante reading “i think you can recognize that the usage of AI by students of all grades and all around the world to cheat through their assignments is not a personal moral failing but just yet another symptom of the mechanistic if not, at this point, basically dehumanized processes of our education systems which are nowadays almost solely focused on demanding production from students and churning out degrees required for jobs while ignoring any tangible verification of their actual knowledge, intellectual development and critical thinking skills, much less their mental health, while also pointing out that using AI to write your essay isn’t a power move to cheat a flawed system, it is behaving exactly as the system was designed, it is cheating yourself by giving up your ability to speak, think for and challenge yourself and bowing your head to powers that will only benefit from not being questioned, and the only reason text genAI is so widespread right now is because it was born on the perfect breeding ground that is anti intellectualism.” Then a response from anarchistmemecollective reading “oh turns out someone had already finally said it and better.”

Saw this on Instagram and thought this applies to art too. Not only are genAI “artists” stealing, but they’re also cheating themselves out of the benefits of creating.

The joy of the process, the complex decisions, the pride.

Giving up creativity for productivity is exactly what capitalism wants.

PANEL 1: SHELDON, a ten-year old boy with large glasses, floats in a green floaty in a swimming hole. ARTHUR, a yellow duck, sits in the water next to him.
ARTHUR: How are we supposed to know when to “trust our intuition”?

PANEL 2: ARTHUR continues to swim in the swimming hole, musing alone.
ARTHUR: Intuition is just your brain using pattern recognition BEFORE logic kicks in. So we register it as a “gut feeling.” Rather than a valid response to data.

PANEL 3: ARTHUR turns away, getting more stressed.
ARTHUR: But sometimes, what you THINK is your intuition is actually your biases kicking in. It’s your brain feeling before thinking, by leaning on established prejudices. But that ain’t intuition!

PANEL 4: Close up on SHELDON and ARTHUR as ARTHUR has a breakdown.
SHELDON: I’ll add a third one on there: what if “intuition” is actually just crippling anxiety rearing up like it always does?
ARTHUR: AUGGH. WHAT IF IT IS?!? What if it is?
