My writing process involves publishing and sharing so that I can FINALLY see all that's wrong with it and attempt to fix what I can before anyone reads it (which I did these 22 mins). Pls enjoy my blog post on this Taco Tuesday which reminds me of someone you should follow: @tacobellquarterly.org

Still in Ch. 1, p. 12-13. Dying to get to some pages in the 100s. The only way is through.
It's taco Tuesday and we're onto cooking. There is a source! "Beliefs" are conveyed instead of 100% fact-sounding fictions! Let's get fired up.

so, so good.
High five!
So far we've had some hints, but today's pages tell us WHO YOU ARE.
You are a bone-smashing carrion-eating underdog, and not the good kind.
Calm down. It's probably just more metaphors...

Thank you! Love a good "huh?"!

We already KNOW how to make super babies, you eugenicist creeps! And it's all the things you fucking fucks are fucking up! THREAD!
fffffff yessssssssss thank you!
The photo shows a wooden model of a cow giving birth accompanied by two men. One man calms the cow while the other ensures a proper delivery. The calf emerges from his mother, licking the hand of the man.
Models of everyday life were deposited in #Egyptian tombs. They were supposed to support the deceased in the afterlife. One of the most charming examples is the model of a #cow giving birth.
Carved in wood, painted.
Probably from Meir, #Egypt, dating c. 2040-1985 BC.

Yes and Thank you for this thread!
Oh my gosh… this was me. And it’s why I was the first to smell the fart spray that time.
I didn’t know I was doing it either, until I was doing it.
Page 10 of my page-by-page review of Sapiens starts with the perfect quote from @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social 's essay "Woolf's Darkness" (in Men Explain Things to Me). It's looking back over the pages we've read so far and it's wisely guiding those to come: ecodevoevo.blogspot.com/2026/04/sapi...
Imagine, if you will, trying to orgasm in the conditions (for so many) for birth...

this is beautiful. Will use for intro classes and nudge many of my colleagues to read it... @dunsworth.bsky.social has done so much good work in this area, and this is an awesome, pithy, and effective synthesis.
Harari says "women paid extra" when our ancestors evolved bipedalism + big brains. The story he's telling is about our physical inferiority. I say we paid extra by having to argue against that stupid 'scientific' belief instead of doing cool shit.

Thanks right back!
Maybe by "like this" they meant "make it an international best-seller". Easy peasy!
Agustin... thank you so much, as ever. 💚
Thank you, Liz! 💚

Hurt apes hurt apes.
I should have put "hallucination" in scare quotes. Not a good metaphor, I've learned, because it anthropomorphizes AI! Love a good metaphor take-down...
Thank you! Going straight into one of my courses in the Fall!
Awesome! I’m looking forward to read this @marspidermonkey.bsky.social
And then I crawled back under this lovely rock which is too real for AI to know exists...
I've had the pleasure of being invited to co-author a paper that cited a paper of mine that was a 100% AI hallucination. I said no thank you.
Yes!
It’s also like if he spoke to the American people through a kazoo.
Scientists!
Is a scientific hypothesis a story?
If so, do you or would you ever think of science itself as “storytelling”?
Please include an explanation for your answer.
(These questions were inspired by someone else’s mind that I am curious about.)
Thank you for your feedback!
