It occurred to me earlier today that it has been more than a quarter of a century since Valentine's Day has had any significant meaning to me.
I'm not sure which part of that is *more* depressing: not caring about Valentine's Day, or the "quarter of a century" bit.

Photo of an evening landscape with numerous lit-up buildings nearby, mountains behind them, and the silhouette of Mount Fuji in the distance.
Going through photos I took while I was living in Japan back in 2008-10, and I'm reminded that, while I do not miss living in apartments in general, I sure do miss this particular view from my apartment balcony in Yokosuka.

(That name, incidentally, is far more applicable to the road *leading* to the place, as it is hell to drive because it is made of holes.)
...of a place that absolutely didn't deserve the name it was given. 😭

A few more photos from Saturday's trip into the mountains!

Am...am I turning into a car photographer?

This is pretty much how I learned photography — got camera, took pictures.
It was only after I got my fourth or fifth camera that I started really looking into more advanced techniques (which I end up ignoring most of the time anyway).
Photo of forested hills with snow-covered mountains in the distance, framed by tree branches on both sides.
Headed up to the forest yesterday, enjoyed some nice weather and beautiful views. Highly recommended!

Fair enough. 😊
Hopefully you have working smoke detectors — though that's probably not a safe assumption if you're doing things like plugging space heaters into power strips.
Only do this if you want to turn your space heater — briefly — into a whole-home heater, and only after you have made arrangements to live somewhere else after you don't have a home anymore.
[crumbles into dust]
Seriously, though, I hope you get a break soon — there's got to be a con out there that appreciates a great artist!

My back hurts. Why does my back hurt?
[Cue predictable refusal to accept the obvious answer: being old]
For those of you in the latter camp: here's some proof that you're right!

Ah, Lightroom and Photoshop. It's been too long (or, depending on who you ask, not nearly long enough)...
I may or may not start posting stuff regularly on here again — the "may not" is not because I don't *want* to post regularly, but more because my attention span amounts to a single-digit number of microns and I'm too easily distracted to commit to doing *anything* regularly.

Yes, hello, long time no see, &c. Here's a couple of birbs.

Four and a half hours in a hospital ER later, at least I have a name to put to this ridiculousness: costochondritis! Apparently it's a thing that can just randomly happen? (I've had chest muscle injuries before from bike crashes, but this isn't in the same place as any of those.)
Nothing says "welcome to middle age!" quite like suffering a chest injury from turning over in bed trying to fall asleep.
