My open letter to the new @baltcityschools.bsky.social CEO as a parent: Pulling for you. Please get this right. www.thebanner.com/opinion/colu...
Baltimore's community fridge network could use some love, especially the ones on the West Side. Please consider filling them up. www.thebanner.com/opinion/colu...
Hell yeah.
“Every Black kid“ is a lie designed to attack Black families and criminalize Black youth in order to excuse tearing them from their families and communities and depriving them, and their parents, of their rights. This is a centuries-old white supremacist dream.
RFK, Jr. is a monster.
Hi! For @thebaltimorebanner.com I want to talk to Ravens fans who are watching the upcoming draft with new hope - new coach, new uniforms and more. Will you be watching? I'm at leslie.streeter@thebaltimorebanner.com And thank you!
Listen to what he’s saying - every Black kid has this problem. Everyone that has this problem should be removed from their homes and put to work on a farm. Everyone Black kid should be removed from their home. Racist weasel.
He said this. He knows he said it. It’s racist. I don’t know one Black kid just automatically put on drugs, including the one I’m raising. He should be removed.
Today I wrote about a church in Northwood that had to crowdfund their BGE bill. No one should have to. @thebaltimorebanner.com
Thanks for this!
As I prep for this 10k, the day before my 55th, still wrestling with this body, with the menopause and the weird belly that looks like a stage prop, and the insomnia and the aches whose provenance I don't remember. I am trying to make peace with never having my 35-year-old body back. Slowly.
I am writing about a Baltimore church that sent out a call to raise money to pay its BGE bill. Do any of you belong to churches or organizations that took donations from members for this? Let me know! Leslie.Streeter@thebaltimorebanner.com
I am a journalist in my 50s and a widowed single mom. I’m never going to retire. I hope I don’t have to drive ride share because I’m never going to get the social security I have paid into since I was 15. This is not a happy thing.
Baltimore Center Stage was told to stop any programming that appeared to be #DEI or lose federal funding. They tripled down. www.thebanner.com/culture/thea...
Girl. It’s you.
“We always seem to have money for war. But not to feed the poor.”
❤️❤️
Just cobbled together 5.4 miles of running shuffle walking running for this 10k I’m not quite ready for but am doing anyway. The winter knocked into the training for the one in March and made this one slow but I’m doing it!
And it reminds me of the story in the Bible where the young rich guy asked Jesus how he could follow him and he was like “Give away all your money and follow me now” and the rich guy was like “Later byeeee!”
You want credit for asking the question but can’t live up to it.
So I wrote about how white women showed up in my mentions during the racial unrest of 2020 wanting to apologize for racism and forgiveness without acknowledging that I was a human and not a forgiveness dispenser. A poster tried to explain why they could be that way but never responded to my answer.
Sigh.
I wish I had know how pretty I was when I was that stinking pretty. I'm OK with me at 54 but I was so hot and cute at 22-40 and wish I'd realized that. I'd have dated less losers. I'm not sad about it because regrets are dumb. But I wasted time. Don't do that, y'all.
I understand that Liz loves her and she loves Liz and that they keep each other real. But where are her friends from back in the day? The ones her age? They can't have 10 different new main characters and I get it. But I need them to feed into her more, with Blackness. It can't just be a punchline.
Do you have a response?
I also have a lot of white friends, but this seems like a time where her core advice group should also have Black women in it.
I wish Gaby had more Black friends on #Shrinking.
You cannot ask for labor if you aren’t engaging the humanity of the person you are asking it of.
A dear white friend asked me how white journalists could better cover the unrest in Minnesota and other places in 2020. I asked why it was more important to accommodate white people than to not hire a diverse staff in the first place, because it all can’t be about white accommodation.
Because if this was all cursory for a person they weren’t close to to solve their problems and absolve them? I want nothing to do with it.
