The busy style was a deliberate choice. A number of reasons. It was horror so I wondered how to ‘sneak up’ on the reader in panel. One way was to create a detailed environ where the reader might take a few seconds to understand what they were looking at. Read it here shop.2000ad.com/series/story...
Defoe readers may not have seen these unpublished try-out pages I did for @2000ad.bsky.social - My ropey lettering….added only to show where I’d place text in such a busy art environment. From here I went on to draw the final series of Defoe- The Divisor created by Pat Mills & Leigh Gallagher. #art
2. The 3D printer is a total shock, more on that soon. I’ll have to re-learn digital sculpting. I got fairly adept some years back, but I forget everything…re-learning curve ahead. I’d like print a Defoe model for my studio.
This is a tiny detail from a cover I’m working on today. I’m ‘flatting’ today…laying in base colours. I’m still at the classic comics colouring method along yesteryears print methods…still trying to make the jump to full paint, oil paint… #comics
It looks like I’ll have a 3D printer in the studio soon. I plan to make some 3D statuettes of some characters I’ve worked on, stand alone - one-offs. Watch this space! #comic #art
