It’s a ROCK concert . Hahahahahaha. (I’ll show myself out now)

Wonderful! I’ll add this to the Motown part of my course next fall!
I love you.
Just no. So VERY disappointing. AFT should NOT side with the flawed fascist tech, which is built on theft, exploited labor, replicates biases and harm, and is accelerating environmental harms and climate catastrophe.
Thank you for your service (because now I don’t have to 😂)
Which is also where I have arrived, but reluctantly, for sure.
Ach!
How do we keep OA but prevent AI from stealing our work? (Honest question!)
Although I am usually anti-incarceration, I make an exception for this despicable man. Ruinous as governor AND as adoptive parent.
Congrats!
But. As I said elsewhere, he is the student who got caught ChatGPT-ing their way through the course and can’t tell you what *words he allegedly wrote* mean. Or what the course was about, really.
I’m being pressured to move to hybrid (“it’s what students want”) & I hope I can find similar success, but in my heart I mourn the loss of true engagement by a majority of the class. It has deteriorated for years (esp. since Covid). Coupled with rampant LLM cheating, it’s a real challenge.
Painfully, this is exactly like when I ask a student, who has used GenAI to cheat, to tell me about what they “wrote” for an assignment. They cannot explain their work or the words used in it.
I loved “Three Body Problem” by Liu Cixin (and quickly read all three books). Also just started the series by Solvej Balle that starts with “On the Calculation if Volume” - these books in particular were great for escaping here and now, while still really making one think…so good spring break reads!
Ew.
Omg.
They blew up USAid and doomed millions to an agonizing death but a video of them being an idiot on camera is causing reputational damage
I always always play this in my music and dance course. And swoon (professorial-y). It’s so good.
lol, new NY times connections category: “AI, ICE, dems, Iran” = most hated by ppl polled by CNN. BUT, what WERE the questions in this poll tho?
Hahaha, at first I was like, “WUT?????” Then I scrolled and remembered
In other words, BAD.
The image is a “Notice of Public Hearing” for the Louisville metro planning commission meeting which will involve further approvals for a new data center in Louisville. The information is in English and Spanish and includes the date, time, and location: Planning Commission meeting March 5, 2026 1:00 pm at 514 W Liberty Street, 40202 (OLD JAIL). https://louisvilleky.gov/government/office-planning/upcoming-public-meetings
Louisville ppl. Let’s be real. We do not want a “telecommunications hotel” 🙄(data center) and we do not want displaced folks and we do not need the weaponized AI and environmental harm. Say no at the Planning Commission meeting March 5, 2026 1:00 pm at 514 W Liberty Street, 40202 (OLD JAIL)
Amidst the horrors, I just want to say that art is keeping me going, my own art, that of my community, and last night, specifically, the STUNNING performance of Urban Bush Women on their current tour. Foundational works. Relevant AF today. Find a show and go: urbanbushwomen.org
This also happened in a post-college friend group of mine many years ago, as officers fired at a fleeing vehicle they had chased into a busy area and a stray bullet killed a friend. Senseless. Preventable. And yes, Abolish ICE
Do not forget, that amidst all the other things that should enrage us, this is one of the first things done a year ago that is an unforgivable atrocity
“You have a hot date with the metronome”
The Washington Post has only a single arts critic left - everyone else got fired today, along with all three arts editors. (There are still a couple of excellent arts reporters.) I was so upset I dusted off my blog to have my say: annemidgette.com/blog/f/a-req...
when I said local I really meant local but I’ll always take stuff from anybody of course. I found out we just got a Bombas shipment so we are good on socks but we’re critically low on underwear at the moment so if you feel moved
3,800 CHILDREN.
