I have a bunch of leftover mulberry cuttings. Ideally I would like to donate them to 1-2 community projects. If you want ‘em pitch me your project by DM or reply. Keep in mind Mulberry is somewhat fussy to root, see attached infographic.
In this episode I’m talking to Laura Sieger about Apples. We cover history, care, varieties and re-framing expectations. Laura is a freelance orchardist and nursery worker who has worked on several great projects around Maine edgewood-nursery.com/podcast/2026...
Seeds are still in stock and it’s getting down to the last weeks to easily sow species with longer stratification requirements. I have a handful of new plants available, including more native or edible Dogwood plants, new Mulberry varieties, New Apples and Pear scionwood varieties, and a Pussywillow
Finally got caught up! Cuttings, Scions, Tubers and some plants are shipping now. www.Edgewood-Nursery.com/shop This is good timing for folks well south of here or in the PNW… kinda early to start some of this stuff for locals.
Freshly harvested cuttings have encountered a new threat!
So, I’m working on preparing cuttings and scions every day and hope to be ready to put them on sale in mid-February! Along with cuttings and scions I will have tubers and a limited selection of bare root plants.
A little update on nursery availability, I had Covid in early January and it really screwed up my schedule. Plus as soon as I was reasonably recovered a bunch of federal agents showed up in my community… and that also didn’t help me get nursery stuff prepared.
I guess life if still pretty chill for someone
This week I’m talking with Michalina Hunter of Cicada Seeds about Skirret (Sium sisarum). Skirret is a perennial root vegetable in the Apiaceae family that produces clumps of Parsnip like roots.

Ska Pastora (Salvia divin….) blooming indoors, snow and single digits temps outdoors.
Some of these species need a fair bit of stratification, so ordering and sowing sooner rather than later is advisable. A few are also on a pretty limited supply and will sell out quickly. Next major update will be cuttings, scions and tubers in early February.
Happy new year! The Edgewood Nursery seed catalog is open for business. This year I’ve got a dozen new species available for the first time, as well as a handful that have been out of stock for a couple years. edgewood-nursery.com/shop
I usually stick just to audio, but Pascal showed so much cool stuff on the video, I’m releasing a video version… just this once.

Finally got all the winter prep tasks done! Still plenty to do, but the pace has slowed. It’s time to pack seeds, work on podcasts, maybe even chill a bit! The web store will reopen Jan 1st with a full selection of seeds. I should have occasional posts about this and that in meantime.
In this Shorts episode I'm talking about teaching kids about plants. It basically boils down to inviting them to the topic, following what they are interested in, encouraging autonomy while offering enough support that they are likely to succeed. edgewood-nursery.com/podcast/2025...
