The other fun one is when a weapon is Brave Eclipse. Eclipse effect damage is 1/2 of the target's hp (rounded up), determined upon initiating combat. Brave of course makes you do that twice without the chance for another attack to occur between

Like I said, that's the *old* randomizer. The more modern one doesn't run if you load in a randomized rom. The old one went "hey I don't think you should do this" and then did it anyway
Can never match the betrayal of a 37mt >150hit weapon working reliably, then recoil ohkoing you five maps later
It was a 10x near-full-breadth randomization, where the only guardrails were min 50 hit and 20 uses on all weapons.
The end result iirc had iron or steel lances turn into infinite use lightweight 47mt magic javelins that never miss, and gargoyles randomized to 8 move :D
Now to go waaaay back in time (file doesn't exist anymore) and nab the only sacred stones rando I've ever finished, for your perusal. Purely for the harsh contrast to an ironman :blep:

Speed tiering is a good place to start with knowledge.
Granted, I haven't touched any comp newer than gen 7, but it's good to know that you outspeed certain threats or identify when they would outspeed you. Sometimes it can give you info about the opponent's nature -> damage potential, too.
Just make it terrible then. Once you’ve gotten it out of your head, then you can polish it. You’ll be able to more clearly see what doesn’t work and address it.
As long as it remains abstract in your imagination, the endless possibilities will cloud your vision and it’ll feel impossible to sort.
