It is an option like "camp" that you can use in some calm places. It gives allies some time off to wander around and do stuff like visit the market, go sightseeing, drink in a tavern, or stuff like that. You can then wander in the place and interact with them, to learn about them and gain bond.

No, it cannot lock romances. Certain dialogue choices can give more or less bonding with allies, but you should still be able to romance anyone no matter what is your personality.

Your choices can unlock personality traits, which enable unique dialogue choices, voiceover, and cutscenes.

The random names will be picked from a poll of Patrons and Kickstarter backers, and some of those names will have appearance pre-set by the same patrons and backers.

There will be some presets when you pick certain names, but we will add that when we have more hair styles.

We are leaving hairstyles for a later moment in development, since it is work that doesn't actually contribute to gameplay.

You don't need to worry about that. The game is very distinct from BoF, including fully customizable protagonist, personality system, story, races, lore, magic affinity mechanics, relationships. We are further apart from BoF than Stardew Valley from Harverst Moon, or Eiyuden Chronicle from Suikoden.

And here is the comparison of Violet and Deis, from #bof 3 and 4. As you can see, they have different hair style, different clothes, different pattern in the tail, and different colors overall. They are also very different in personality, background, and don't actually share anything in common.
