They aren’t even bothering with the pretence of trying to avoid coming across as creepy and evil now.

I am so tired of late-stage capitalism.

A remarkable find in Maui! We identified the 96th hawksbill turtle in Hawaii and named him Cousteau, highlighting the importance of marine conservation efforts.

They can come right up to people of their own regard—the only way to avoid it would be to get out of the water. This one clearly swims from one photographer to another on its own.

We once had one following us around; it was clearly just curious. We were trying to give it room—it didn’t want it :)

No, you’re not entitled to your opinion Every year, I try to do at least two things with my students at least once. First, I make a point of addressing them as “philosophers” – a bit cheesy, but hopefully it encourages active learning. Seco...

One of the worst outcomes from social media is the notion that having an opinion legitimises it.

Extraordinary testimony from Olly Robbins to foreign affairs committee:

- he was subject to “constant pressure” from No 10 when at foreign office to get Peter Mandelson in post asap.

- fcdo was urged to allow Mandelson’s appointment as ambo *without* usual vetting process - but dept pushed back

With the rise in energy costs, it would be very welcome to see some grants for solar via Home Energy Scotland, especially for rural homes stuck on heating oil. Electric options exist, even if a home isn’t suited to a heat pump, but they are only feasible with solar.

🇪🇸/🇸🇮/🇮🇪 request a discussion on suspending the EU’s association treaty with Israel.

Spain’s foreign minister says the EU will lose credibility if it’s incapable of telling Israel it is expected to respect human rights and international law.

Spain’s leadership deserves a lot of praise these days 🫶

Starmer has not even sent a ministerial rep to the negotiations on the launch of the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB), despite the obvious pressure on the UK to spend more on defence and Carney (who was Governor of the BoE) repeatedly lobbying Starmer about the UK joining the initiative.

Comic “Duty Calls” from xkcd. It has speech coming from off the panel on the left and a drawing of a person on the computer.
The voice says, “Are you coming to bed?”
The person on the computer says, “I can’t. This is important.
Voice says, “what?”
Computer person says, “someone is wrong on the internet.”

I really like the mute and block features.

For me, gone are the days of “someone is wrong on the internet” 😜

Mute. Block… and breathe. Time to move on ☺️☀️☕️

What is it doing in the UK? Will any regulator even investigate?

Astonishing levels of hypocrisy from the "free speech" social network. Half of the content on X is more incendiary than this!

Ironically, this will only bring more visibility to Gil's work.

Having BlueSky issues again and, clearly, I’m not alone. They’re investigating and I see reports on Downdetector as well.

For me the Following feed is mostly normal, but search and individual timelines aren’t working properly.

Another DDoS attack? (Or the popular blame du jour, vibe coding? 😜)

Ridiculous statement from Ex Nato chief - UK unprepared for war due to an “ever-expanding welfare budget”.

25.3m people live below minimum income standard.
Since 2010 HMRC hasn't collected £500bn of taxes.

Does he think poor/ill make better defenders.

Silence on corporate welfare, taxing the rich

Thames Water infrastructure average age is 79 yrs. 40% of assets are 100+ yrs old.

Water industry average is 56 years.

At current rate, it will take 700+ yrs to renew assets.

Since 1989 industry neglected investment, £88bn+ dividends paid, customers fleeced.

Privatisation isn't the answer.
